Osteoarthritis (OA), a prevalent joint disorder, can lead to disability, with no effective treatment available. Interleukin-1 (IL-1) plays a crucial role in the progression of OA, and its receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra), a natural IL-1 inhibitor, represents a promising therapeutic target by obstructing the IL-1 signaling pathway. This study delivered IL-1Ra via adeno-associated virus (AAV), a gene therapy vector enabling long-term protein expression, to treat knee osteoarthritis (KOA) in animal models.

Background: Depression alongside multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs) in older adults poses a critical public health challenge, worsening physical and mental health and increasing healthcare costs. COVID-19 restrictions further exacerbated these impacts. Behavioural activation (BA) shows promise as a remote intervention for depression during isolation, but its cost-effectiveness for depressed, socially isolated older adults remains uncertain.

Objectives: To report up to 9-year results of a prospective and retrospective study on non-invasive full-mouth rehabilitation of worn dentition with PICN CAD-CAM restorations using the One-Step No-Prep technique. The secondary objective is to evaluate the influence of restoration thickness on fracture of restorations.
Methods: A total of 580 Vita Enamic restorations (218 anterior and 362 posterior; 260 monoblock (MO) and 320 multiColor (MC)) in 24 patients were clinically evaluated once a year (up 9 months to 9 years) according to FDI criteria.

The concentration, character, and distribution of microplastics in coastal marine environments remain poorly understood, with most research focusing on the abundance of microplastics at the sea surface. To address this gap, we conducted one of the first comprehensive assessments of microplastic distribution through the marine water column and in the benthic sediment during the wet and dry season in the coastal waters of the San Pedro Shelf, Southern California, USA. Microplastic concentrations in the water column did not vary significantly across season but were significantly higher in nearshore environments and at the surface of the water column.
