Patient involvement in the development of patient-reported outcome measures used following hip or knee arthroplasty: a scoping review.

Purpose: Involving patients in developing patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) is essential for accurately capturing their perspectives. However, understanding how patients were involved in developing PROMs used after hip or knee arthroplasty is limited. This scoping review aimed to evaluate whether patients were involved in the development of these PROMs and how they were involved.

Comparing patient outcomes following outpatient total joint arthroplasty in a hospital setting versus an ambulatory surgery center.

Background: Traditionally, total joint arthroplasty has been performed as an inpatient procedure, sometimes requiring a hospital stay of a few days. However, outpatient total joints have gained popularity in recent years. A cross-sectional study comparing passive and eccentric modes of an isokinetic dynamometer to assess eccentric torque in trained athletes: Methodological considerations.

Some technical limitations to using the eccentric mode to measure peak eccentric strength of the hamstrings (PTH) were raised. PTH also has limited validity to predict performance or injury risk factor. Therefore, our aim was to compare PTH and other isokinetic variables tested in the eccentric and passive modes.

Individualized total knee arthroplasty achieves better functional results than off-the-shelf implants in patients undergoing personalized coronal alignment.

Background: Several studies have demonstrated the interest in patient-specific custom cutting guides in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), but clinical improvement remains debated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the functional outcomes (Forgotten Joint Score, FJS) of patients undergoing individualized TKA compared with those receiving off-the-shelf (OTS) implants, both using patient-specific cutting guides with personalized alignment over a minimum follow up period of 12 months. We hypothesized that individualized TKA demonstrates significantly better functional outcomes than OTS TKA (FJS and percentage of patients reaching the minimum clinically important difference).

An Innovative Approach to Produce Silicone Mold-Based Antibiotic-Loaded Knee Spacer for Infected Knee Arthroplasty.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of antibiotic-loaded cement articulating spacers produced through a silicone mold in the two-stage revision of infected total knee arthroplasty. Five individuals were prospectively treated with 2-stage revision using spacers made by this mold. Clinical assessment was conducted during and after implantation using the WOMAC Score, Oxford knee score, and range of motion (ROM).
