The universal correlation between the reduced critical pressure, density, and temperature for different substances and model systems was found on the basis of analysis of experimental and numerical simulation data. We choose the Zeno line (ZL) parameters as the reducing units (ZL is the line along which the compressibility factor is unity). In these variables the critical and ZL parameters satisfy simple relations, which are valid for a great number of substances.

Background: Given that fall injury is a critical public health concern in Australia, understanding the economic implications of falls among older adults is crucial to allocating healthcare resources efficiently to reduce falls and improve quality of life. This study therefore aimed to estimate the cost and identify factors associated with fall-related injuries within residential aged care (RAC).

Methods: A cohort analysis from the healthcare system perspective based on data from a double-blinded randomised controlled trial-the Opti-Med trial.

This short historical note dates the earliest ethnomedical reference to koro back to the 1840s (about a half-century earlier than universally presumed), and the earliest ethnopsychiatric reference to 1883 (over a decade earlier than universally presumed).

Conscientious objection: a global health perspective.

BMJ Glob Health

December 2024

Global Bioethics Collaborative, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Conscientious objection is a critical topic that has been sparsely discussed from a global health perspective, despite its special relevance to our inherently diverse field. In this Analysis paper, we argue that blanket prohibitions of a specific type of non-discriminatory conscientious objection are unjustified in the global health context. We begin both by introducing a nuanced account of conscience that is grounded in moral psychology and by providing an overview of discriminatory and non-discriminatory forms of objection.

It's Not Just Trump: Americans of Both Parties Support Liberal Democratic Norm Violations More Under Their Own President.

Public Opin Q

There is a growing worry about the health of American democracy, and political scientists and pundits alike are looking for possible explanations. Surveys conducted during the Trump presidency showed considerable citizen support for liberal democratic norm erosions, especially among Republicans. However, recent experimental research also shows that voters of both parties are more tolerant of norm erosion committed by politicians of the party they prefer.

Diversified Fluoroalkylation of Alkenes Using Quaternary Fluoroalkyl Alcohols as the Fluoroalkylating Reagents.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

Given the widespread presence of fluoroalkyl functionalities in bioactive molecules, the development of fluoroalkylation reactions with bench-stable and easy-to-use fluoroalkylating reagents is highly desirable. In addition, realization of mono-, di-, tri-, or polyfluoroalkyation usually requires distinct types of fluoroalkylating reagents under different or even harsh reaction conditions, and a universal method to accomplish different hydrofluoroalkylation of alkenes is lacking. Herein, the use of quaternary fluoroalkyl alcohols is reported as the universal fluoroalkylating reagents to readily facilitate mono-, di-, tri-, or polyfluoroalkylation of a wide range of alkene substrates in high yields.
