GnRH pulse generator activity in mouse models of polycystic ovary syndrome.

Elife

January 2025

Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom.

One in ten women in their reproductive age suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) that, alongside subfertility and hyperandrogenism, typically presents with increased luteinizing hormone (LH) pulsatility. As such, it is suspected that the arcuate kisspeptin (ARN) neurons that represent the GnRH pulse generator are dysfunctional in PCOS. We used here in vivo GCaMP fiber photometry and other approaches to examine the behavior of the GnRH pulse generator in two mouse models of PCOS.

Enhancing Optical Properties of Lead-Free CsNaBiCl Nanocrystals via Indium Alloying.

Inorg Chem

January 2025

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Jiangsu Engineering Laboratory of Light-Electricity-Heat Energy-Converting Materials and Applications, Changzhou University, Changzhou 213164, PR China.

This study presents the synthesis and characterization of CsNaBiCl nanocrystals (NCs) doped with varying concentrations of In to improve their luminescent properties. Utilizing a colloidal solution method, we systematically varied the In concentration to identify the optimal alloying level for enhancing the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the CsNaBiCl NCs. Structural analysis confirmed that the In-alloyed NCs maintained high crystallinity and a uniform cubic shape.

Validation of Sleep Measurements of an Actigraphy Watch: Instrument Validation Study.

JMIR Form Res

January 2025

Department of Biomedical Informatics, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan.

Background: The iAide2 (Tokai) physical activity monitoring system includes diverse measurements and wireless features useful to researchers. The iAide2's sleep measurement capabilities have not been compared to validated sleep measurement standards in any published work.

Objective: We aimed to assess the iAide2's sleep duration and total sleep time (TST) measurement performance and perform calibration if needed.

The recommended threshold for the time spent on continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is established at 70%. However, glucose outcomes in children with type 1 diabetes (CwD) using CGM for a different proportion of time within this threshold have not been evaluated yet. The study aims to compare glycemic parameters among CwD who spent 70%-89% and ≥90% on CGM using the population-wide data from the Czech national pediatric diabetes registry ČENDA.
