This paper deals with a "digital twin" (DT) approach for processing, reprocessing, and scrapping (P/R/S) technology running on a modular production system (MPS) assisted by a mobile cyber-physical robotic system (MCPRS). The main hardware architecture consists of four line-shaped workstations (WSs), a wheeled mobile robot (WMR) equipped with a robotic manipulator (RM) and a mobile visual servoing system (MVSS) mounted on the end effector. The system architecture integrates a hierarchical control system where each of the four WSs, in the MPS, is controlled by a Programable Logic Controller (PLC), all connected via Profibus DP to a central PLC.

The study investigated the enhancement of stability and efficacy in the removal of bivalent nickel ions (Ni(II)) by utilizing a cerium metal-organic framework (Ce-MOF) encapsulated within a food-grade algal matrix. This composite material is integrated into a dual-layer hydrogel containing chitosan and carboxymethyl cellulose. The enhancement of structural integrity in the final product can be attributed to the cross-linking process with epichlorohydrin, leading to the development of Ce-MOF-FGA/CMC-CS hydrogel beads.

Department of Environmental Health Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University, New York, NY 10032, USA.

The 2019 emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its rapid spread created a public health emergency of international concern. However, the impact of the pandemic in Sub-Saharan Africa, as documented in cases, hospitalizations and deaths, appears far lower than in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Characterization of the transmission dynamics is critical for understanding how SARS-CoV-2 spreads and the true scale of the pandemic.

Conservation efforts are leading to demographic growth and spatial expansion of some previously endangered species. However, past population bottlenecks or population size fluctuations can have lasting effects on effective population size ( ), even when census size ( ) appears large or recovered. The UK metapopulation of Eurasian otters () has a well-documented history of population recovery over recent decades, with indicators of presence (faeces and footprints) increasing in distribution and number over successive national surveys.
