Pseudomonas resinovorans strain CA10 can grow on carbazole as its sole carbon and nitrogen source. Here, we report the complete nucleotide sequence of the CA10 genome (a 6,285,863-bp chromosome and a 198,965-bp plasmid). CA10 carries a larger number of genes that are potentially responsible for aromatic hydrocarbon metabolism than do other previously sequenced Pseudomonas spp.
Medium chain length Polyhydroxyalkanoate (mcl-PHA) is a biodegradable bioplastic material with promising applications in various fields, including the medical, packaging, and agricultural industries. This mcl-PHA can be biosynthesized by microorganisms from various carbon sources, and notably, it can also be produced from alkane mixtures contained in pyrolysis oil derived from low-grade waste plastics. In this study, Pseudomonas resinovorans was engineered to overexpress alkane monooxygenase from Lysinibaillus fusiformis JJY0216, enhancing its ability to utilize alkanes as carbon sources and thereby increasing mcl-PHA production.
Sleep quality and duration can be impacted by diet, and has been linked to gut microbiota composition and function as the result of communication via the microbiota-gut-brain axis. As one strategy to improve sleep quality could be through the modulation of the gut microbiome, we assessed the effects of a dairy-based product containing whey protein, galacto-oligosaccharides, tryptophan, vitamins and minerals after a 3 weeks intervention on gut microbiota composition and (gut-brain related) functions on basis of 67 healthy subjects with moderate sleep disturbances. Associations of the gut microbiota with sleep quality and with response/non-response to the treatment were revealed by shotgun metagenomics sequencing of faecal DNA samples, and subsequent analyses of microbiota taxonomy and generic functionality.

To elucidate why plasmid-borne catabolic ability differs among host bacteria, we assessed the expression dynamics of the P promoter on the carbazole-degradative conjugative plasmid pCAR1 in KT2440(pCAR1) (hereafter, KTPC) and CA10. The P promoter regulates the transcription of both the and operons, which are responsible for converting carbazole into anthranilate and anthranilate into catechol, respectively. In the presence of anthranilate, transcription of the P promoter is induced by the AraC/XylS family regulator AntR, encoded on pCAR1.
The present study reports the structural and functional characterization of a new glutaminase-free recombinant L-asparaginase (PrASNase) from Pseudomonas resinovorans IGS-131. PrASNase showed substrate specificity to L-asparagine, and its kinetic parameters, K, V, and k were 9.49 × 10 M, 25.
