Objectives: Postoperative complications after major surgery, especially in vascular procedures, are associated with a significant increase in costs and mortality. Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) have a notable impact on morbidity and mortality. The primary aim of this present study was to evaluate the effects of spinal anesthesia compared with general anesthesia on the incidence of PPCs in patients undergoing lower extremity bypass surgery.

Background: While the line joining the posterior superior iliac spine (PSIS) intersects a relatively stable sacral vertebra, it does not directly facilitate the localization of lumbar interspace or assist in the positioning for neuraxial anesthesia. Our study aimed to explore the potential of the PSIS line as a reference point and to determine its practical applicability in clinical settings.
Methods: We consecutively enrolled pregnant women with gestational ages ranging from 24 to 38 weeks scheduled for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination.

Individuals with joint hypermobility and the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) are disproportionately affected by neuraxial dysfunction and Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders: such as Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension (SIH) due to spinal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, Upper Cervical Instability (UCI; including craniocervical or atlantoaxial instability (CCI/AAI)), Occult Tethered Cord Syndrome (TCS), Chiari Malformation (CM) and Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH). The neuraxis comprises the parts of the nervous system (brain, nerves, spinal cord) along the craniospinal axis of the body. Neuraxial tissue includes all tissue structures that comprise, support, sheath, and connect along the neuraxis and peripheral nerves.

Introduction: The neuraxial morphine has been regarded as the gold standard for postpartum analgesia. However, the recent advancements in patient-controlled analgesia and various regional nerve blocks have led to the implementation of multimodal analgesia strategies, which aim to reduce opioid usage and associated complications while ensuring satisfactory pain relief. The objective of this research is to investigate the optimal dosage of epidural morphine for alleviating moderate and severe pain after caesarean sections in healthy parturients, as well as reducing unnecessary burden of respiratory monitoring resources.
