The safe and efficient use of outpatient surgical anesthesia modalities is a significant part of the training and expertise of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Although adverse outcomes are rare, they can have considerable traumatic psychological and professional consequences for the surgeon involved. The goal of this article is to develop guidelines to educate the doctor, the second victim, on how to manage a bad outcome and how to navigate through a difficult and arduous process.

Background: Orbital lymphomas are the most frequently occurring malignant tumor entities in this region. They are less frequently also localized in the ocular adnexa and show a high entity-specific heterogeneity regarding the treatment and prognosis.

Objective: This article gives an overview of the heterogeneity of symptoms of orbital lymphoma and lymphoma of the ocular adnexa and focuses on new systemic options for treatment of this disease.

In the process of orthodontic clinical teaching, it is very important to teach medical students how they are expected to communicate effectively with patients and their families, as this has a direct impact on patient compliance throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment and on patient satisfaction after treatment.
