The authors report an unusual case of recurrent proximal migration of the distal end of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt catheter presenting as CSF galactorrhea. The authors review the pertinent literature and discuss the possible causes as well as techniques to prevent a similar occurrence.

Lung cancer (LC) is the predominant cause of cancer-related fatalities globally, with the highest death rates in both genders, primarily attributed to smoking. The non-kinase transmembrane cell surface glycoprotein, CD44, enhances LC cell migration and invasion, leading to drug resistance and an unfavorable prognosis. This research formulated a cisplatin-loaded gold nanoshell (HCP@GNS) integrated with hyaluronan (HCP@GNS@HA) to enhance targeting capability and realize a synergistic effect of chemo-photothermal therapy (chemo-PTT) against LC.

Nonylphenol (NP), a ubiquitous environmental contaminant used as a surfactant in industrial production and classified as an endocrine disruptor, could interfere hormone secretion and exhibit neurotoxicity in organisms. Hirschsprung's disease (HSCR), one of the most frequently observed congenital malformations of the digestive system, arises mainly due to the failure of enteric neural crest cells to migrate to the distal colon during embryonic development. The interest in chemical interactions between inorganic sulfur species and heme compounds has grown significantly in recent years due to their physiological relevance. The model system ferric N-acetyl microperoxidase 11 (NAcMP11Fe) enables the exploration of the mechanistic aspects of the interaction between the ferric heme group and binding sulfur ligands, without the constraints imposed by a protein matrix and the stabilizing effects of distal amino acids.
