Objective: To explore the association between epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and common benign gynecological disorders.
Study Design: The medical records of 226 patients with EOC treated at Peking Union Medical College Hospital between March 2011 and March 2012 were reviewed. Histological evaluations had been performed to determine the presence of coexisting pelvic endometriosis (n=17), uterine leiomyoma (n=66), adenomyosis (n=22), or endometrial polyps (n=17).
Results: Coexistence of endometriosis occurred in 35.3% and 36.4% of cases of the clear cell and endometrioid subtypes of EOC histology, respectively. Endometriosis was more likely associated with clear cell or endometrioid ovarian carcinoma, but less likely with high grade serous cancer. No differences were observed in the concurrence of uterine myoma, adenomyosis or endometrial polyps among the different subtypes of EOC.
Conclusions: In contrast to other common benign gynecological disorders, endometriosis showed close relationships with the clear cell and endometrioid subtypes of EOC specifically.

Introduction And Methods: Aiming to evaluate safety aspects of a recently proposed approach to target Alzheimer's disease, we mimicked a complex boron neutron capture therapy field using a mixed beam consisting of high- and low-linear energy transfer (LET) radiation, Am alpha particles (α) and/or X-ray radiation respectively, in human microglial (HMC3) cells.
Results: Acute exposure to 2 Gy X-rays induced the strongest response in the formation of γH2AX foci 30 min post irradiation, while α- and mixed beam-induced damage (α:X-ray = 3:1) sustained longer. Fractionation of the same total dose (0.

Purpose: Emerging literature links the role of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) to the progression of cancers. However, the function of RAAS has not been verified in Clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).
Methods: ACE expression in ccRCC tissues was determined using RT-PCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry staining.

Objective: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Lymph node involvement remains a crucial prognostic factor in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and the TNM system is the current standard for staging. However, it mainly considers the anatomical location of lymph nodes, neglecting the significance of node count.

A 46-year-old woman on peritoneal dialysis (PD) had cloudy peritoneal dialysis effluent that had persisted for 10 days by the time she visited our hospital. The white blood cell count in the effluent was elevated to 1500/μL, leading to a diagnosis of peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis. The effluent cleared within two days with treatment using cefazolin and ceftazidime, and the white blood cell count dropped to 0/μL by day 6.
