A total of 104 children aged between 41 and 47 months were selected to study the relationship between language and false belief understanding. Participants were assigned to four different training conditions: discourse, labelling, control (all with deceptive objects), and sentential complements (involving non-deceptive objects). Post-test results showed an improvement in children's false belief understanding in the discourse and the labelling conditions, but not in the sentential complements with non-deceptive objects or the control group. Furthermore, the most remarkable improvement in false belief understanding occurred in the labelling group. These results suggest that some types of linguistic experience promote the development of false belief understanding, provided that differing perspectives are confronted.

When the clinician and patient are unable to reconcile differences over treatment, does this mean the latter lacks capacity to decide in such matters? Wellesley analyse the legal judgements in the case of Ms Sudiksha Thirumalesh where, on the particulars, the Court of Protection answered yes, only for the Court of Appeal to disagree. The authors highlight concerns about using isolated false belief as an indicator of incapacity and advise that such matters may be better resolved by greater discussion of the benefits and burdens of treatment, alongside consideration of their costs. Here, I suggest that a disability perspective is also helpful to such cases, recognising that this was a disagreement from which the patient couldn't walk away.

Introduction: The role of language in false belief reasoning has been much debated for twenty-five years or more, especially the relative contributions of general language development, complement syntax, vocabulary, and executive function. However, the empirical studies so far have fallen short, in that they generally have too few participants for adequate statistical modeling; they do not include control variables; or they are cross-sectional rather than longitudinal, making inferences about causal direction much more tenuous.
Methods: The present study considers the role of these different variables in the development of false belief reasoning over several months of testing, with 258 children aged three to five years.

Background: Theory of mind (ToM) is the ability to make correct inferences from one's own or another person's mental states, such as thoughts, beliefs, desires, and intentions. Although there are a limited number of studies in the literature examining the social cognitive functions of patients with trichotillomania (TTM), no studies have evaluated ToM. This study aimed to compare the ToM skills of patients with TTM and healthy controls.

Background Context: There are a number of risk factors- from biological, psychological, and social domains- for non-specific chronic low back pain (cLBP). Many cLBP treatments target risk factors on the assumption that the targeted factor is not just associated with cLBP but is also a cause (i.e, a causal risk factor).

Most deaths due to all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility task vehicles (UTVs) occur on public roads, despite manufacturers' warnings that they are not designed for roadway use. Our study objective was to determine rural residents' use, knowledge, and attitudes regarding ATVs/UTVs on public roads. A convenience sample of 2022 Farm Progress Show attendees were surveyed ( = 361).
