Postprandial reactive hypoglycemia, early satiety and diarrhea are well-recognized side effects following full or partial gastrectomy or gastric bypass. It has only recently been realized, however, that patients with normal gastric anatomy may experience similar symptoms and signs due to primary accelerated gastric emptying (Middleton syndrome). In previous case studies, patients responded well to the use of dietary modification (frequent small-volume meals) alone. The authors describe two patients with this syndrome who continued to experience symptoms of reactive postprandial hypoglycemia despite dietary intervention but became asymptomatic following the addition of the alpha-glucosidase inhibitor acarbose.

Acyl thiourea scaffolds are frequently employed in drug development to discern unique and essential therapies for the eradication of the most challenging diseases. Hence, we developed a library of novel cyclopropyl incorporating acyl thiourea derivatives (4a-j) and evaluated their antimicrobial, α-amylase, and proteinase K inhibition potential. Compound (4h) (4-methoxy) demonstrated the strongest α-amylase inhibition (IC = 1.

Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors are one of the therapies used for treating type 2 diabetes by inhibiting the absorption of carbohydrates in the gastrointestinal tract. In addition to antimicrobial activity, some probiotic species show -glucosidase inhibitor activity, making them potential alternative therapies for type 2 diabetes. This study aimed to characterize probiotics from "," a traditional food from North Sumatra, Indonesia, that exhibit -glucosidase inhibition, potentially useful for type 2 diabetes treatment.

Diabetes mellitus, particularly type 2 diabetes, is a growing global health challenge characterized by chronic hyperglycemia due to insulin resistance. One therapeutic approach to managing this condition is the inhibition of α-glucosidase, an enzyme involved in carbohydrate digestion, to reduce postprandial blood glucose levels. In this study, a series of thiosemicarbazide-linked quinoline-piperazine derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, to identify new agents for type 2 diabetes management.

Tyrosine-protein kinase Src plays a key role in cell proliferation and growth under favorable conditions, but its overexpression and genetic mutations can lead to the progression of various inflammatory diseases. Due to the specificity and selectivity problems of previously discovered inhibitors like dasatinib and bosutinib, we employed an integrated machine learning and structure-based drug repurposing strategy to find novel, targeted, and non-toxic Src kinase inhibitors. Different machine learning models including random forest (RF), k-nearest neighbors (K-NN), decision tree, and support vector machine (SVM), were trained using already available bioactivity data of Src kinase targeting compounds.
