Objective: To evaluate the level of microbial contamination of general pratice environment.
Methods: Ten points, including air, water and surfaces were sampled in general practitioner's consultation room of 30 general practices in Franche-Comté region (eastern France). For each sample, a global microbial count was assessed as well as the presence of potential pathogen microorganisms: Aspergillus fumigatus, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacteriaceae.
Results: We note that 66.3% of the samples (n=202) were on the target level (<51 ufc/25 cm (2), <101 ufc/m(3), <100 ufc/mL in total bacteria, without pathogenic species and without A. fumigatus respectively on surfaces, air and water, without isolation of coliforme bacteria or P. aeruginosa for 100mL of water). A. fumigatus, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa and Enterobacteriaceae were recovered in 8.0%, 2.1%, 0.7%, 0% respectively. However, 66.7% of air sampling were positive to A. fumigatus with 2 to 12 cfu/m(3).
Conclusion: This study shows a low level of bacterial contamination of general practitioner's consultation room. A. fumigatus frequency in air samples seems equivalent to that found in housing without air treatment.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk factors for loss of intraoperative correction, as measured by lumbar lordosis (LL), with an emphasis on rod characteristics.
Methods: A retrospective study identified patients at least 50 years of age who underwent instrumented fusion with an upper instrumented vertebrae (UIV) in the upper thoracic spine (T1-T6) or thoracolumbar junction (T10-L2) to the pelvis. Inclusion criteria included intraoperative x-rays that allowed for LL measurement, postop standing x-rays, and a minimum follow up of 24 months with the original rods still in place.

A considerable percentage of ineffective treatment in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) may be related to subtherapeutic dosage or non-adherence. The aim of the study was to develop a simple analytical method suitable for plasma determination of selected drugs: riociguat (RIO), bosentan (BOS) and macitentan (MAC) administered to PAH patients. An isocratic HPLC-UV system (Spectra Physics - Shimadzu) with a manual injector (50 μL loop) was applied.

Background: Routine cognitive screening for older adults in primary care could improve AD early detection and streamline referrals for treatment or clinical trials. Digital assessments, especially when self-administered online, can overcome time barriers to cognitive screening in primary care settings and are conducive to repeat testing for disease monitoring and the evaluation of treatment outcomes. We report preliminary data on the feasibility and acceptability of three digital screening approaches for older adults completing annual follow-up visits with a primary care provider (PCP) METHODS: Cognitive screening approaches included: 1) remote online screening with the Boston Online Cognitive Assessment (BOCA) 1-4 weeks prior to the PCP appointment, 2) self-administered BOCA in the waiting room before or after the appointment, and 3) provider-administered screening during the appointment using the Digital Clock and Recall (Linus Health DCR).

People living with dementia have a range of functional, physical, cognitive, and behaviour needs. Reablement (and/or 'rehabilitation') is an important multidisciplinary approach, such as using occupational therapy and exercise, to address each person's needs. People with dementia in Australia are being referred to community aged care teams for everyday living support, and an evidence-informed reablement handbook is freely available (www.

Background: New immunotherapies for early-stage Alzheimer's disease (AD) have ushered in fresh hope for AD research and clinical care, but also highlight barriers to AD screening and timely diagnosis in the US. Digital cognitive assessments could potentially streamline screening and referrals for AD treatment and/or clinical trials. We report preliminary data on the feasibility and acceptability of three digital cognitive approaches for older adults completing Annual Wellness or routine follow-up visits with a primary care provider (PCP).
