The article unpicks the notion of lesbian bodies as revolting through an analysis of how "women in wetsuits" are experienced as both disgusting and desirable by lesbian surfers. Based on ethnographic research carried out within British surf culture, I consider how lesbian surfing bodies come to be experienced and embodied as disgusting, desirable, and revolting. Informed by interview data and personal reflections I suggest that the affective power of lesbian desire might offer ways in which to disrupt the cultural processes that shame bodies and in doing so enable surfing bodies to revolt.

Neurovascular flow-diverting stents (FDSs) are revolutionizing the paradigm for treatment of intracranial aneurysms, but they still face great challenges like post- implantation acute thrombosis and delayed reendothelialization. Surface modification is of crucial relevance in addressing such key issues. In this study, we fabricated an ultrathin nanocoating out of copper (II) together with protocatechuic acid (PCA) and nattokinase (NK) bioactive molecules on NiTi FDSs via a coordination chemistry approach, with favorable biophysiochemical interactions, to fulfill this goal.

Unlabelled: The activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome by hyperosmotic stress is a critical pathophysiological response in dry eye disease (DED), driving the chronic cycle of inflammation on the ocular surface. The specific mechanism underlying hyperosmotic mechanical stimulation activates the NLRP3 inflammasome remains unclear. This study provides evidence that PIEZO1, a mechanosensitive ion channel, functions as the primary receptor for corneal epithelial cells in sensing mechanical stimulation induced by tear hyperosmolarity.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive form of breast cancer defined by the lack of three key receptors: estrogen, progesterone, and HER2. This lack of receptors makes TNBC difficult to treat with hormone therapy or drugs, and so it is characterised by a poor prognosis compared to other kinds of breast cancer. This study explores photoactive Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles as a potential therapeutic strategy for TNBC.

In this short piece I think about the ocean as queer and its liberating sensualities as a practice of writing into the surf. What are the dissolutions that emerge from the wetness of the sea? This piece is based on forthcoming work where I expand upon the themes of queer and trans ecologies at the sea's edge.

The in vitro blood-brain barrier (BBB) structures can offer advantages for studying cerebrovascular functions and developing neuroprotective drugs. However, currently developed BBB models are overly simplistic and inadequate for replicating the complex three-dimensional architecture of the in vivo BBB. In this study, a method is introduced for fabricating a three-layer vascular structure exhibiting BBB function using a coaxial extrusion bioprinting technique with a two-layer nozzle.
