Purpose: To investigate the safety and efficacy of nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation sedation assisted in elderly hypertensive patients under local anesthesia during tooth extraction.
Methods: Forty elderly patients (age≥70 years) with hypertension who needed tooth extraction with electrocardiographic monitoring were selected, and divided into experimental and control groups randomly, with 20 patients in each group. The experimental group was treated with nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation sedation and local anesthesia for surgery, the control group underwent tooth extraction under local anesthesia. Heart rate, blood pressure, as well as differences of operative time in all groups before surgery, during operation and after surgery were observed and compared. SPSS 11.0 software package was used for statistical analysis.
Results: The intraoperative HR, BP of patients in the control group was significantly higher than those of patients in the experimental group (P<0.05). HR, BP were relatively stable during the whole procedure in the experimental group. Compared with the control group, surgery was significantly longer in the experimental group (P<0.05). The difference was statistically significant.
Conclusions: Nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation sedation assisted local anesthesia can be a safe and effective anesthetic method in tooth extraction of elderly patients with hypertension. Supported by Medical Science and Technology Progress Project of Nanjing City(YKK11040).

Aims: To assess and compare the effectiveness of pharmacological and cognitive-behavioral modalities-behavioral methods (BM), nitrous oxide inhalation sedation (NOIS), and premedication with Diazepam-for alleviating anxiety during dental treatment, using completed treatment sessions and adverse outcomes as indicators.
Methods And Results: For 239 patients (515 dental records), 18-53 y/o, who underwent dental treatments under anxiety reduction measures, sessions under NOIS were categorized as "nitrous group" (456 sessions) versus premedication with Diazepam or behavioral strategies (control, 59 sessions). Outcomes were completed treatment sessions considering demographic and clinical parameters, and adverse outcomes during and between sessions.

When a difficult airway is anticipated, awake tracheal intubation can be considered. Usually, low doses of sedatives are administered during this procedure for minimal sedation and anxiolysis, such as midazolam and remifentanil. The newly developed ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine remimazolam has a pharmacokinetic profile that is more suitable for titration during awake tracheal intubation than the long-acting midazolam.

Rationale: It is imperative to be cautious about the potential systemic allergic reaction caused by the combined use of Qing Kailing Injection (QKI) and clindamycin as it may be life-threatening.
Patient Concerns: A 48-year-old female with a history of hypertension was admitted to a private hospital with a fever and cough. She was diagnosed with lung infection and received QKI infusion, followed by clindamycin infusion.
Introduction: Hypoxaemia is a frequent complication associated with endoscopy conducted under intravenous sedation, highlighting the need for effective and practical interventions. This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of nasal mask oxygenation in reducing the incidence of hypoxaemia during endoscopy under intravenous sedation compared with the conventional oxygen supply.
Methods And Analysis: This study strictly adheres to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocol guidelines.

Objective: The agitation that can occur in patients undergoing vitreoretinal surgery on awakening from general anesthesia is a serious post-operative problem. In our study, we aimed to compare the effects of different anesthesia methods on emergence agitation in patients undergoing vitreoretinal surgery.
Method: Patients undergoing vitreoretinal surgery were divided into two groups: Total intravenous anesthesia (Group T) and inhalation anesthesia (Group D) according to the maintenance of anesthesia applied by consulting the records.
