Congenital heart disease (CHD) represents a major birth defect associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. Although environmental factors are acknowledged as potential contributors to CHD, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Bisphenol A (BPA), a common endocrine disruptor, has attracted significant attention due to its widespread use and associated health risks.

Aims: Nanoplastics (NPs) are emerging organic pollutants generated by plastic degradation and are ubiquitous in the environment. They can be accumulated through the food webs and enter the human body through dietary intake, posing health risks. The main target organs of NP accumulation are the lungs, liver, heart, and kidneys.

Purpose: To investigate differences in left ventricular wall thickness (LVWT) measurements between end-diastole and mid-diastole using cardiac computed tomography (CCT) and establish LVWT reference values stratified by phase, sex, and region.
Methods: Subjects who underwent CCT without a history of cardiovascular disease or risk factors were retrospectively included between 2021 and 2024. LVWT was manually measured in each segment according to the American Heart Association's 17-segment model at end-diastole and mid-diastole.

Early diagnosis of canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is complicated by the presence of a prolonged asymptomatic phase, for which a comprehensive evaluation of myocardial function is essential. This pilot study was conducted to evaluate the myocardial function in dogs with DCM using two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE). Nine client-owned Retrievers with DCM and twelve client-owned clinically normal Retrievers were comparatively evaluated using standard echocardiography and 2D-STE.

Neddylation is a highly conserved post-translational modification that plays critical roles in various cellular processes through the modulation of cullins and non-cullin substrates. While neddylation is known to be essential for embryonic development, tumor growth, and organogenesis of different tissues, its role in cardiogenesis remains unexplored. Here, we investigated the role of neddylation in early cardiac development by deleting the gene encoding a regulatory subunit of the NEDD8-specific E1 activating enzyme, Nae1, globally and in a heart-specific fashion via Nkx2-5.
