As part of the mammalian innate immune response, Toll-like receptors 3 and 4 can signal via the adaptor protein TRIF/TICAM-1 to elicit the production of type-I interferons and cytokines. Recent studies have suggested an auto-inhibitory role for the N-terminal domain (NTD) of TRIF. This domain has no significant sequence similarity to proteins of known structure. In this paper, the crystallization and X-ray diffraction analysis of TRIF-NTD and its selenomethionine-labelled mutant TRIF-NTD(A66M/L113M) are reported. Thin plate-like crystals of native TRIF-NTD obtained using polyethylene glycol 3350 as precipitant diffracted X-rays to 1.9 Å resolution. To facilitate phase determination, two additional methionines were incorporated into the protein at positions chosen based on the occurrence of methionines in TRIF homologues in different species. Crystals of the selenomethionine-labelled protein were obtained under conditions similar to the wild-type protein; these crystals diffracted X-rays to 2.5 Å resolution. The TRIF-NTD and TRIF-NTD(A66M/L113M) crystals have the symmetry of space groups P212121 and P1, and most likely contain two and four molecules in the asymmetric unit, respectively. These results provide a sound foundation for the future structure determination of this novel domain.

In the search for novel natural products with hepatoprotective effects against acetaminophen-induced acute liver injury, the marine-derived fungus WHUF0198 was investigated. Seventeen undescribed pyranopyridone alkaloids, aculeapyridones A-Q (-), were isolated by bioactivity-guided fractionation of an extract obtained by coculture of the WHUF0198 with the mangrove-associated fungus sp. Objectives: The dynamics of monosodium urate (MSU) crystal changes across a range of serum urate concentrations in people with gout are unknown. This study aimed to systematically examine the relationship between serum urate and changes in dual-energy CT (DECT) urate volume in people with gout and stable serum urate concentrations.

Methods: Individual participant data were analysed from three studies of people with gout.

Lead-halide hybrid perovskites (RNHPbX, X = halide, e.g., Cl, Br, I; R = organic moiety) show promise for next-generation optoelectronic devices due to their simple synthesis routes, strong light absorption, and high photoluminescence quantum yield.

The photoinduced reaction of [Pt(NO)] with pyridine or its derivatives (L) was found to result in the formation of [PtL](NO) salts in high yield. This transformation was successfully probed for methyl- and carboxyethyl-substituted pyridines, and the corresponding [PtL](NO) salts were isolated and fully characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD). Anation of the [Pt(py)] cationic complex with N was studied by H NMR spectroscopy in aqueous and water/dimethyl sulfoxide solutions of [Pt(py)](NO).

The reactions of LAlH (L = HC(CMeNAr), Ar = 2,6-PrCH) (1) with diphenylphosphane oxide [PhP(O)H], diphenylphosphinamide [PhP(O)NH], and diaryl/alkyl phosphane [(RO)P(O)H (R = Ph, or Pr)] afford their corresponding compounds with compositions LAl(H)OP(Ph) (2), LAl[OP(Ph)] (3), LAl{[N(H)P(O)(Ph)][OP(Ph)]} (4), LAl(OPr) (5), and LAl(OPh) (6), respectively. These reactions probably undergo a process of dehydrogenation coupling, deaminating dehydrogenation coupling, or chain-breaking coupling. It is noteworthy to mention that the reaction of compound 1 with 2 equiv.
