Model experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of a siphon sediment cleansing set (SSCS) for preventing sediment deposition on the combined sewer overflow (CSO) chamber bottom. The results confirmed the effectiveness of siphon suction in sediment removal in the chamber. The sediment scour test revealed that the equilibrium scour depth correlated significantly with the siphon-lift capacity of the SSCS, which was a function of the initial siphon head and the cross-sectional area ratio between the CSO chamber and the siphon.

Aims: To develop a generative adversarial network (GAN) capable of generating realistic high-resolution anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) images.
Methods: This study included 142 628 AS-OCT B-scans from the American University of Beirut Medical Center. The Style and WAvelet based GAN architecture was trained to generate realistic AS-OCT images and was evaluated through the Fréchet Inception Distance (FID) Score and a blinded assessment by three refractive surgeons who were asked to distinguish between real and generated images.

Current treatments targeting individual protein quality control have limited efficacy in alleviating proteinopathies, highlighting the prerequisite for a common upstream druggable target capable of global proteostasis modulation. Building on our prior research establishing nuclear speckles as a pivotal membrane-less organelle responsible for global proteostasis transcriptional control, we aim to alleviate proteinopathies through nuclear speckle rejuvenation. We identified pyrvinium pamoate as a small-molecule nuclear speckle rejuvenator that enhances protein quality control while suppressing YAP1 signaling via decreasing the surface/interfacial tension of nuclear speckle condensates through interaction with the intrinsically disordered region of nuclear speckle scaffold protein SON.
