Pulmonary inflammation is an important feature in the pathogenesis of BPD. Feline primary bone tumors are rare. Still, osteosarcoma (OSA) composes almost 80 % of malignant bone tumors in cats, affecting mostly elder feline individuals. Osteoarthritis, the most common arthritic condition, is an age-related progressive disease characterized by the loss of cartilage and synovial inflammation in the knees and hips. Development of pain, stiffness, and considerably restricted mobility of the joints are responsible for the production of matrix metalloproteinases and cytokines. Although several treatments are available for the management of this disease condition, they possess limitations at different levels.

This study aims to explore the mechanism of Zhuanggu Jianxi Decoction in reducing synovial tissue inflammation in human knee osteoarthritis(KOA) via the liver X receptors(LXRs)/nuclear factor(NF)-κB signaling pathway. The synovial tissue samples were collected from 5 healthy volunteers and 30 KOA synovitis patients and cultured in vitro. The samples from the heathy volunteers were set as the normal group, and those from KOA synovitis patients were randomized into synovitis, Zhuanggu Jianxi Decoction, LXRα inhibitor, and N-CoR inhibitor groups.
