Unlabelled: Research objective was to make a comparative assessment of haemodynamics, ventilation and oxygen status and perioperative complications during laparoscopic surgeries anaesthetic maintenance with intubation and laryngeal mask use in Pediatric patients.
Methods: A retrospective observational controlled study. STUDY TERMS: from 2000 to 2012. Two groups of Pediatric patients were recruited in the study: 127 patients for general anaesthesia with laryngeal mask and 86 patients for general anaesthesia with endotracheal tube. Laparoscopy duration was 51.3 +/- 14.4 minutes. LMA-classic laryngeal mask was used. Study results showed that laryngeal mask use provided haemodynamics stability adequate ventilation and oxygen status and shorter awakening time when compared with endotracheal tube use.
Conclusion: General anaesthesia with laryngeal mask can be used for a short laparoscopic surgery in Pediatric patients without respiratory disorders and I-II classes due to ASA physical status classification.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided rectus sheath block (RSB) in laparoscopic umbilical hernia repair with intraperitoneal onlay mesh (IPOM).
Methods: A total of 139 patients scheduled for laparoscopic umbilical hernia repair with IPOM were selected and randomly assigned to either the group receiving general anesthesia combined with bilateral rectus sheath block (Group GR, 71 patients) or the group receiving general anesthesia alone (Group G, 68 patients). We monitored the patients' heart rate (HR) and mean arterial pressure (MAP) at four time points: before anesthesia induction (T1), at the start of surgery (T2), during mesh fixation (T3), and upon removal of the laryngeal mask (T4).

: Despite the known impact of propofol and remifentanil on hemodynamics and patient outcomes, there is a lack of comprehensive quantitative analysis, particularly in surgical settings, considering the influence of noxious stimuli. The aim of this study was to develop a quantitative semi-mechanistic population model that characterized the time course changes in mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) due to the effects of propofol, remifentanil, and different types of noxious stimulation related to the clinical routine. : Data from a prospective study were used; the study analyzed the effects of propofol and remifentanil general anesthesia on female patients in physical status of I-II according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA I-II) undergoing gynecology surgery.

Interventional endoscopy procedures are challenging for anaesthesiologists due to the various patient, procedural, logistic, and position-related issues. Complex endoscopic procedures like biliary interventions and endoscopic myotomy necessitate longer procedural duration. The mode of anaesthesia is usually deep sedation without any definitive airway device and is frequently associated with hypoxemia events which can be catastrophic.

This is a case report of a rare hypoglossal nerve paresis after tonsillectomy in a healthy 29-year-old woman. While she made a full recovery, she experienced 6-8 weeks of dysphagia, dysarthria and had to be readmitted because of dehydration. As direct intraoperative trauma is unlikely due to the protected course of the nerve, we discuss possible mechanisms and suggest precautions to avoid similar neuropraxia - such as avoiding overinflation of the laryngeal mask airway, regularly relieving the tongue pressure and using careful manipulation of the tongue base if necessary.

Background: Intravenous anesthesia with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) has been reported to benefit oxygen reserves and enhance postoperative recovery in surgeries requiring low neuromuscular blockade. This study investigated whether HFNC improves recovery quality in elderly undergoing ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy (UHLL).
Methods: We enrolled 106 elderly patients undergoing UHLL, with 96 patients (48 per group) included in the final analysis.
