The use of direct-acting antiviral agents (e.g., telaprevir, boceprevir) has improved response rates in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 infections. Substantial number of drug-drug interactions are anticipated with the use of telaprevir, a cytochrome P450 3A and P-glycoprotein substrate and inhibitor. Herein we describe a patient with HCV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma treated simultaneously with a telaprevir-containing regimen and localized chemotherapy (transcatheter arterial chemoembolization) with doxorubicin. No clinically relevant interactions or adverse events developed while on antiviral therapy.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has become a viable treatment option for patients with severe aortic stenosis among all risk subsets. As TAVR use becomes more prevalent and patients live longer with their transcatheter valve, an increasing number of these patients can be expected to present with ACS. Overall, there is a paucity of high-quality data detailing incidence, pathophysiology, and management of ACS in this subset.

Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery is a rare congenital heart defect. The detection of anomalous coronary arteries is likely to increase with increased availability and application of cardiac computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Once detected, the recommendation for surgical intervention on anomalous coronary arteries depends upon patient symptoms, the presence or absence of inducible ischemia on stress imaging, and high-risk anatomic features.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of C-reactive protein to albumin (CRP/Alb) ratio in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with transcatheter intra-arterial therapy combined with molecular targeted agents (MTAs) and programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors.
Methods: Medical records of 271 consecutive patients with HCC receiving this combination therapy in China between 2019 and 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Prognostic factors for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were identified using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses.

Post-capillary hypertension resulting from mitral regurgitation is typically considered a contraindication for single lung transplantation due to heightened risks of primary graft dysfunction. This case report highlights a 66-year-old COPD patient with severe mitral regurgitation who was deemed ineligible for surgical mitral replacement. As an alternative, transcatheter mitral valve replacement was successfully performed, resulting in the normalization of pulmonary artery pressures.
