Background: Interleukin 4 (IL-4), increased in tuberculosis infection, may impair bacterial killing. Blocking IL-4 confers benefit in animal models. We evaluated safety and efficacy of pascolizumab (humanized anti-IL-4 monoclonal antibody) as adjunctive tuberculosis treatment.

February 2024

Office of Scientific Research Management, Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University, Xining, Qinghai 810000, China.

Objective: To investigate the effects of on the phenotypic transformations of glucose metabolism, polarization types and inflammatory responses in macrophages, so as to provide insights into elucidation of echinococcosis pathogenesis.

Methods: Bone marrow cells were isolated from C57BL/6J mice at ages of 6 to 8 weeks, and induced into bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) with mouse macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF), which served as controls (BMDMs-M0). BMDMs-M0 induced M2 macrophages by interleukin-4 for 24 hours served as the IL-4 induction group, and BMDMs-M0 co-cultured with 2.

Effects of amber LED on inflammatory and regulatory monocytes and lymphocytes.

J Photochem Photobiol B

February 2024

Postgraduate Program in Medicine-Biophotonics, Nove de Julho University (UNINOVE), 235/249 Vergueiro Street, Liberdade, São Paulo, SP 01504-001, Brazil. Electronic address:

The primary objective of the present study was to assess the impact of amber LED photobiomodulation (PBM) on human monocytes and lymphocytes that were polarized into proinflammatory and regulatory/reparative phenotypes. Human leukocytes were polarized with LPS or LPS + IL-4 for 2 h and irradiated after 2 and 6 h with amber LED (590 nm). Cell absorbance spectrum and gene and protein expression of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, TNF-α and IFNγ determined after 24 h.

To explore the role of Langerin in mediating epicutaneous sensitization of atopic dermatitis (AD) in mouse model. Mice were topically treated with calcipotriol (MC903) plus ovalbumin (OVA) on the ears to establish AD mouse models, and mice were divided into wild-type control group, wild-type AD group, Langerin knockout control group, and Langerin knockout AD group. Changes of lesion were daily observed.
