The effect of higher oxygen pressures (0.3 MPa, 5 sessions 1 h each daily) on induction of chromosomal aberrations in somatic cells and germinal tissues of rat males has been studied. Appearance of aberrations in bone marrow cells after HBO was recorded for 3 months, in cells of eye cornea epithelium--during 3 weeks after the end of sessions. Chromosome rearrangements in the first meiotic division were detected only 90 days after sessions. HBO affects neither functional nor morphological conditions of gonads and induces no dominant lethals. It is suggested that mutagenesis in bone marrow cells is an adaptive process, preventing mutagenic consequences of HBO in the cells of germinal tissue.

Swine influenza virus invades the host through the respiratory mucosa, which severely restricts the development of the pig breeding industry. To construct monomeric and trimeric vaccines, we developed recombinant Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) strains that express the receptor binding site (RBS) of the hemagglutinin (HA) antigen from H1N1 swine influenza virus. After the mucosal immunization of mice, we found that probiotics activated CD40 and CD86 in DCs and increased the levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ secretion by T cells.

Biphasic in vitro oocyte maturation (IVM) can be offered as a patient-friendly alternative to conventional ovarian stimulation in in vitro fertilization (IVF) patients predicted to be hyper-responsive to ovarian stimulation. However, cumulative live birth rates after IVM per cycle are lower than after conventional ovarian stimulation for IVF. In different animal species, supplementation of IVM media with oocyte-secreted factors (OSFs) improves oocyte developmental competence through the expression of pro-ovulatory genes in cumulus cells.

Testicular follicular lymphoma (TFL) is an exceedingly rare lymphoma that typically occurs in young male patients and is now recognized as a distinct diagnostic entity in the International Consensus Classification. TFL shows some clinicopathologic and genetic overlap with pediatric-type follicular lymphoma (PTFL). We report a case of TFL occurring in an otherwise healthy 4-year-old boy who presented with painless scrotal swelling.

Oocyte maturation arrest (OMA) may occur at different stages, including the germinal vesicle (GV), metaphase I (MI), and metaphase II (MII). A total maturation arrest of human oocytes is rarely observed during fertilization (IVF). We have identified a case of infertile female for whom all oocytes fail to mature and are arrested at MI.

Class IA PI3K p110δ and p110α subunits participate in TCR and costimulatory receptor signals involved in T cell-mediated immunity, but the role of p110α is not completely understood. Here, we analyzed a mouse model of the Cre-dependent functional inactivation of p110α (kinase dead) in T lymphocytes (p110αKD-T, KD). KD mice showed increased cellularity in thymus and spleen and altered T cell differentiation with increased number of CD4CD8 DP thymocytes, enhanced proportion of CD4 SP lymphocytes linked to altered apoptosis, lower Treg cells, and increased AKT and ERK phosphorylation in activated thymocytes.
