Segmental odontomaxillary dysplasia is characterized by variability of its clinical and radiological features, and may mimic other fibro-osseous lesions. We describe the case of a segmental odontomaxillary dysplasia in a 12-year-old male comprising of dermal, gingival, bony, and dental abnormalities. He presented with left midfacial diffuse hyperkeratotic erythematous lesion, ipsilateral hypopigmentation of upper lip with indistinct vermilion border, left-sided facial swelling, unilateral maxillary enlargement and ipsilateral failure of eruption of permanent teeth. Radiographic imaging showed abnormal bony trabeculation, impacted and missing teeth. Histopathologic findings showed characteristic features of segmental odontomaxillary dysplasia. We herein report a case of this rare unusual anomaly, review the literature, and propose a new clinical classification based on the limited number of previously reported cases in an attempt to categorize the clinical variants of the condition which might be helpful when treatment options are to be considered. Clinicians should be aware of its presence when encountering patients presenting with a facial cutaneous lesion especially when it is associated with facial asymmetry and unresponsive to treatment.

Objective: Vascular anomalies are often associated with hypertrophy and asymmetry of soft tissues and bony structures. The aim of this retrospective cross-sectional radiographic study was to evaluate dental maturation and development in patients with facial vascular anomalies and congenital infiltrating lipomatosis.
Design: A sample of 342 patients with different vascular anomalies or congenital infiltrating lipomatosis involving the head and neck area was narrowed down to 31 patients with dental panoramic radiographs taken in the mixed dentition.

Segmental odontomaxillary dysplasia (SOD) is a rare and unusual nonhereditary developmental disorder that affects one side of the maxilla, impacting the hard tissue, soft tissue, and dentition in the affected area. It most frequently presents with enlargement of the gingival and osseous tissue of the affected side and hypodontia of the involved quadrant. Cutaneous irregularities of the impacted area are also common.

Segmental odontomaxillary dysplasia (SOD) is an uncommon and likely underrecognized developmental condition. In rare cases, SOD can also result in anomalies of the ipsilateral mandibular alveolar process and teeth. This report presents two cases of SOD with mandibular involvement to highlight this potential variation in SOD presentation.

Fibro-osseous lesions is a class of diseases with obvious similarities in clinical manifestations and pathological features, which has been attracting the attention of clinicians and pathologists. The latest WHO 2022 Classification (5th edition) included six of these diseases (cemento-osseous dysplasia, segmental odontomaxillary dysplasia, fibrous dysplasia, juvenile trabecular ossifying fibroma, psammomatoid ossifying fibroma and familial gigantiform cementoma) in the " fibro-osseous tumours and dysplasias ", and put forward new ideas on the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. According to the latest WHO 2022 Classification (5th edition), the clinical and pathological features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of these six diseases were described.
