The newest development in IRMM's underground analytical facility is a large lead shield lined with copper that is versatile and can host several detectors of different types. The characteristics and the background performance of the shield are described for four different detector configurations involving HPGe-detectors and NaI-detectors. The shield has been designed to swap detectors, while still maintaining a low background. This enables testing of detectors for other experiments and optimisation of detection limits for specific radionuclides in different projects.

The study aims to analyse ground displacement conditions observed over an Underground Gas Storage (UGS) site located at Hatfield Moors (United Kingdom), with a focus on understanding its implications for decarbonization efforts. The location serves as an active onshore storage site and was used as an analogy to assess ground motion implications around Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) by the British Geological Survey (BGS) as part of the SENSE (Assuring integrity of CO storage sites through ground surface monitoring) project. Given the value of continuous and real-time monitoring of ground movements induced by gas storage activities, the study leverages satellite Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data to assess the environmental impact of UGS operations.

Oil-type gas disasters are a frequently occurring concern in coal-oil-gas coexistence mines. In order to actively predict the volume of oil-type gas emissions from floor rocks, this study presents an investigative methodology to forecast the geological conditions of floor rocks in front of the roadway face by utilizing the Direct Current (DC) method. The assessment of electrical resistance in rock formations, which is widely employed for identifying geological characteristics, serves as the basis for proposing a geological anomaly index derived from rock resistivity.

It is challenging for ionic liquid gels to achieve the combination of rapid self-healing with high toughness. Here, ionic liquid gels (DI-PR) were prepared from readily available materials. A dynamic covalently bonded oxime-carbamate was prepared from polycaprolactone diol, isophorone diisocyanate and dimethylethyleneglyoxime, followed by addition of the "rigid-flexible" cross-linking agent rutin to chemically cross-link the polymer chains and afford the ionic liquid gels, DI-PR.
