J Med Ultrasound
December 2021
Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiology, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand.
Background: The purposes of this study were to calculate the negative predictive value (NPV) of nondiagnostic ultrasound (US) in patients with suspected appendicitis and to identify the clinical factors that were associated with the nondiagnostic US.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 412 patients who had graded-compression appendiceal US performed during January 2017 and December 2017. The NPV of the nondiagnostic US in combination with clinical parameters was calculated.
Echocardiography
June 2022
Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Messina, Messina, Italy.
Introduction: Two-dimensional strain echocardiography (2D-SE) is a reliable method for measuring deformation of the left ventricle.
Aim Of The Study: Aim of the study was to determine changes in 2D-SE parameters over time collected during dipyridamole stress echo-cardiography (dipy-stress) and prognosis of patients with non-diagnostic dipy-stress results.
Methods: In the first phase of the study, assessment of a prospective enrolled population with a non-diagnostic dipy-stress test result was conducted, checking through coronary CT angiography (CCTA) the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD).
Cytopathology
August 2018
Manchester Cytology Centre, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester, UK.
Introduction: To assess our practice using the recently developed standardised classification system designated The Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopathology (MSRSGC) and to ascertain the rates of malignancy for each category by means of a retrospective study.
Methods: All salivary gland FNAC samples received between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2015 were retrospectively assigned a diagnostic category code from the MSRSGC. Cytology results were correlated with subsequent histology (where available), and clinical and radiological follow up.
Cytopathology
December 2017
Department of Pathology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India.
Background: Urine cytology is a highly specific modality for diagnosing high-grade urothelial carcinoma (HGUC), but plagued by low sensitivity and wide inter-observer variability mainly ascribed to the lack of an established template of reporting. The Paris System (TPS) working group proposed such a template at the 2013 International Congress of Cytology, replete with objective criteria for categorising specimens into one of the seven categories: non-diagnostic, negative for HGUC, atypical urothelial cells, suspicious for HGUC, HGUC, low-grade urothelial neoplasm and others (including non-malignant entities). This study was undertaken to determine the impact of TPS criteria in the morphological interpretation of urine samples.
