The relaxation kinetics of both the thermally trapped and photoinduced high-spin (HS) states of the spin-crossover compound [Fe(H4L)2](ClO4)2·H2O·2(CH3)2CO (1) were measured and found to differ significantly. Calorimetry measurements then demonstrated that relaxation of the thermally trapped phase was concurrent with two separate processes, not previously detected as such. Determination of the photogenerated HS structure revealed a new metastable HS state of the system, much closer structurally to the low-spin phase than the thermally trapped one. This difference is proposed as the root of the disparate kinetic behavior, which is proposed to require two processes in the case of the structurally more complex thermally trapped state. Therefore, light irradiation is shown as a mechanism to decouple effectively the structural and magnetic phase transitions that occur in 1 during the course of its spin crossover.

Visible light photocatalysts hold great promise for water purification, yet research on highly efficient, non-toxic photocatalysts is limited. This study synthesized novel g-CN/AlOOH photocatalytic nanocomposites via thermal condensation, enhancing adsorption and visible light degradation by 36-fold and 11-fold, respectively, compared to g-CN alone. The nanocomposites achieved a 98% removal rate of methyl orange under xenon lamp irradiation (>400 nm) for 1 hour.

In this study, a novel acid-induced heat-set soy protein hydrolysate (SPH) gel was successfully developed. The effects of protein (7 and 8 wt%) and glucono-δ-lactone (GDL, 4, 6, 8, and 10 wt%) concentrations on its aggregation and gelation behaviors were investigated by evaluating the structural, rheological, textural, and physical properties of the SPH gel. The structural properties revealed that GDL promoted the formation of SPH aggregates and gels, primarily via disulfide bonds and hydrophobic interactions, which were closely related to the unfolding of the protein structure, exposed hydrophobic groups, decreased protein solubility, and increased particle size and turbidity during the heating process.

Due to intrinsic defects in blue-light-emitting perovskite materials, the charge carriers are prone to being trapped by the trap states. Therefore, the preparation of efficient blue-light-emitting perovskite materials remains a significant challenge. Herein, CsPb(Cl/Br) nanocrystal (NCs)@SiO structures were fabricated through hydrolyzing (3-aminopropyl)-triethoxysilane (APTS).

In this paper, the interaction between egg white protein (EWP) and giant squid surimi was regulated by changing the ratio of surimi to EWP, and the mechanism of EWP on the gel properties of giant squid surimi was analyzed. The results showed that when the proportion of EWP was 16: 1, the hardness and springiness of surimi gel were the highest, reaching 645.5 g and 1.

The development of durable and highly efficient visible-light-driven photocatalysts is essential for the photocatalytic ozonation process towards degrading organic pollutants. This study presents CN-MA, a novel photocatalyst synthesized by grafting carbon nitride (CN) with single-atom Mn and 2-hydroxy-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine (HDMP) via one-step thermal polymerization. Experimental characterization and theoretical calculation results reveal that incorporating single-atom Mn and HDMP into CN alters the charge density distribution on the heptazine rings.
