Background/objectives: Like in the general population, the prevalences of eating- and weight-related health issues in the armed forces are increasing. Relevant medical conditions include the eating disorders (EDs) anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), as well as body dysmorphic disorder, muscle dysmorphia, and the relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) syndrome.
Methods: We performed a narrative literature review on eating- and weight-related disorders in the armed forces.

This study examined generative artificial intelligences (GenAIs), as popularized by ChatGPT, in standardized creativity tests. Benchmarking GenAI against human performance, the results showed that ChatGPT demonstrated remarkable fluency in content generation, though the creative output was average. The random nature of AI creativity and the dependency on the richness of the training database require a reassessment of traditional creativity metrics, especially for AI.

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is an autoimmune chronic cholestatic disease of the liver that symptomatically can present with pruritus and fatigue. Its established first- and second-line therapies are ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and obeticholic acid (OCA) although they provide limited symptom management. Liver transplantation offers a potentially curative therapeutic option in refractory cases progressing to cirrhosis.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, deathly disease with no recognized effective cure as yet. Furthermore, its diagnosis and differentiation from other diffuse interstitial diseases remain a challenge. Circulating miRNAs have been measured in IPF and have proven to be an adequate option as biomarkers for this disease.

The review of 67 articles published between 2018 and 2023 highlights the latest advancements, including photobiomodulation (PBM) for enhanced tissue healing and inflammation control, alongside innovative uses in implantology, endodontics, and teeth whitening. The findings underscore the transformative potential of lasers in improving dental treatment precision and patient outcomes while addressing the barriers to their widespread adoption, such as costs and training needs.
