Article Synopsis
  • Provisional restorative materials are commonly used in dentistry to mimic the appearance of natural teeth, and their effectiveness in achieving aesthetic outcomes hinges on their fluorescence properties.
  • This study compares the fluorescence color difference (∆E) between a typical bovine tooth and eight different provisional restorative materials under UV light, using a spectrophotometer for measurement.
  • Results showed that all materials had a noticeable color difference compared to the natural tooth, with Unifast Trad performing best and Luxatemp Fluorescence showing the most significant mismatch, indicating variability in how closely these materials can replicate natural teeth.

Daytime radiative cooling offers a novel solution to the energy crisis, enabling green and efficient thermal management in space. High reflectance in the solar spectrum is essential for passive radiative cooling, rendering dye coloring and similar methods unsuitable for colored coolers. This paper presents a structurally colored photonic crystal biomimetic microstructured radiative cooler.

Discectomy is the surgical standard of care to relieve low back pain caused by intervertebral disc (IVD) herniation. However, there remains annulus fibrosus (AF) defect and nucleus pulposus (NP) degeneration, which often result in recurrent herniation (re-herniation). Herein, we develop a polyphenol-modified waterborne polyurethane bioadhesives (PPU-glues) to promote therapy prognosis after discectomy.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent advancements in breast cancer treatment have improved survivorship, leading to increased focus on functionality and aesthetics, yet breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) remains a major issue.
  • The Lymphatic Microsurgical Preventive Healing Approach (LYMPHA) is a common method for preventing BCRL, but challenges arise due to deep surgical sites and potential complications from high venous pressures and prior radiotherapy.
  • A modified technique called distally based LYMPHA (dLYMPHA) was developed, showing promising results in a study where BCRL rates were significantly lower in patients who underwent this approach compared to those who did not.
