The modern surgical treatment of hyperparathyroidism requires the exact topical diagnostics of the lesion. The authors worked out and suggested the method of the US-guided fine needle biopsy of parathyroid gland followed by the parathormone level detection in the needle lavage. The method proved to be the effective and safe means of exact preoperative verification of the affected parathyroid gland, detected with the ultrasound. The suggested diagnostic algorithm decreases overall costs of the topical search, traumaticity of the operation and the risk of intraoperative complications.
