Spinal cord injury (SCI) can cause irreversible paralysis, with no regenerative treatment clinically available. Dogs with natural SCI present an established model and can facilitate translation of experimental findings in rodents to people. We conducted a prospective, single arm clinical safety study in companion dogs with chronic SCI to characterize the feasibility of intraspinal transplantation of hydrogel-encapsulated autologous mucosal olfactory ensheathing cell (mOEC) populations expressing chondroitinase ABC (chABC).

Introduction: To classify persistent perineal and pelvic postpartum pain using the classification usually employed in chronic pelvic pain.
Material And Method: Prospective observational study including all women who have consulted an algologist or gynecologist at one of the six French centers for a chronic pain (superior or equal to 3 months) spontaneous linked by the mother with her childbirth were included. The rat is a commonly used model for the study of lower urinary tract function before and after spinal cord injury. We have previously reported that in unanesthetized freely moving rats, although phasic external urethral sphincter (EUS) activity (bursting) is most common during micturition, productive voiding can occur in the absence of bursting, which differs from results seen in anesthetized or unanesthetized restrained animals. The purpose of the present study was to characterize EUS behavior in unanesthetized, freely moving rats before and after mid-thoracic (T8) or thoraco-lumbar (T13-L1) spinal transection to determine how EUS behavior after spinal cord injury differs from that seen in anesthetized or unanesthetized restrained rats.

Background: In spite of modern pedicle-based systems, the correction of a rigid rib hump or hypokyphosis remains a problem in posterior-only scoliosis surgery. As there has so far been no reliable method of predicting the intraoperative extent of kyphosis restoration or rib hump correction by posterior-only surgery, it has been difficult to determine the indication for an additional anterior release.
Methods: The method described here circumvents this dilemma.

Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is an uncommon neurological emergency which can present with the features ranging from simple back pain with radiculopathy to complete paraplegia or quadriplegia depending on the site and severity of the compression. Spinal hemorrhage associated with anti-platelet drugs is rarely seen. We report a case of SSEH in a 68-year-old hypertensive male who was on a low dose clopidogrel for secondary stroke prophylaxis and presented with bilateral lower limb paralysis, preceeded by severe back bain.
