Anthracyclines (ANTs) are widely used in cancer therapy, particularly for lymphoma, sarcoma, breast cancer, and childhood leukemia, and have become the cornerstone of chemotherapy for various malignancies. However, it is associated with fatal and dose-dependent cardiovascular complications, especially cardiotoxicity. Mitochondrial quality control mechanisms, encompassing mitophagy, mitochondrial dynamics, and mitochondrial biogenesis, maintain mitochondrial homeostasis in the cardiovascular system.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of hydroxychloroquine on cardiac functions and left ventricular mass in patients with childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE).
Research Design And Methods: Fifty patients with cSLE undergoing treatment with hydroxychloroquine underwent echocardiographic evaluation. All patients exhibited negative disease activity markers and were clinically in remission.

Childhood cancer survivors' (CCS) knowledge about late effects can promote positive health behaviors and autonomy. Cardiotoxicity is a major source of morbidity, which can be mitigated through exercise. Descriptive and Fisher's exact statistics were used to characterize health knowledge and physical activity in CCS ≥13 years at high risk for cardiotoxicity.
