We present measurements of the velocity distribution of electrons emitted from mass-selected neutral fullerenes, performed at the intracavity free electron laser FELICE. We make use of mass-specific vibrational resonances in the infrared domain to selectively heat up one out of a distribution of several fullerene species. Efficient energy redistribution leads to decay via thermionic emission. Time-resolved electron kinetic energy distributions measured give information on the decay rate of the selected fullerene. This method is generally applicable to all neutral species that exhibit thermionic emission and provides a unique tool to study the stability of mass-selected neutral clusters and molecules that are only available as part of a size distribution.

Background: Defect closure with mesh suture is a novel technique for hernia repair. Originally described as the construction of lightweight macroporous polypropylene mesh strips as a suture material, it is now available as an FDA-approved product. Mesh suture better distributes tensile forces and reduces fascial tearing compared to traditional suture but requires less implanted material and tissue dissection compared to planar mesh.

Fine grinding using a stirred ball mill can enhance ore liberation but incurs high energy consumption, which can be minimized by optimizing operating conditions. This study explores the impact of key operational parameters-grinding time, stirrer tip speed, solid concentration, and feed size-on grinding efficiency, evaluated using specific energy inputs, in stirred milling of Egyptian copper ore. The particle size distribution (PSD) of ground products was simulated using the Gates-Gaudin-Schuhmann model (GGS) and the Rosin-Rammler-Benne (RRB) function.

This study developed a W/O/W emulsion gel encapsulating proanthocyanidins from Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliott (APC) using polyglycerol ricinoleate (PGPR) as the lipophilic emulsifier and sodium caseinate (NaCN)-alginate (Alg) as the hydrophilic emulsifier. The optimal preparation process was established based on particle size, zeta potential, phase separation, centrifugal stability, and microscopic morphology: 4.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a significant public health concern, emphasizing the need for innovative therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes. This study aimed to develop a highly efficient nanocarrier for targeted drug delivery, enhancing drug efficacy while minimizing concentrations and limiting adverse effects. We synthesized protein-based β-lactoglobulin (βlg) nanoparticles (NPs), loaded with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and sodium butyrate (NaB), and further functionalized with folic acid (FA) for specific targeting of folate receptor-positive CRC cells.

This risk is particularly relevant when the nanosuspension is converted into a solid drug product as the original state of the nanosuspension should be restored upon redispersion of the drug product in vivo. In this work, the behavior of different nonionic and anionic surfactants in solid nanocrystalline formulations and their effects on redispersibility under biorelevant conditions were investigated.
