The objective of this study was to record the clinical course of osteoporosis over time in Japanese women. We hypothesized that successful control of acute pain associated with osteoporosis will allow better treatment for health-related problems. To confirm this working hypothesis, we developed the Japan Questionnaire for Osteoporotic Pain (JQ22) to measure health status associated with osteoporosis. We examined the validity and reliability of the JQ22 compared with the current gold standard scale for back pain, the Roland Morris questionnaire (RDQ). A total of 125 women who were more than 65 years old, had an acute back pain episode, and had a fragile vertebral fracture confirmed by X-ray and clinical signs, participated in this study. The psychometric analyses for validity and reliability were tested for the JQ22 and the RDQ. The time course up to 6 weeks was observed by investigating both changes in pain characteristics and its influence on related activities and social participation. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.979 and 0.919 for the JQ22 and RDQ, respectively. The Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) indicated that the JQ22 items were separated into four domains, which were sequentially arranged at the baseline and subsequently changed. This structure reflected osteoporotic back characteristics covering a range from pain to social activities. The JQ22 was shown to be a valid and reliable scale for patient-based measurement of osteoporotic back pain. It also revealed both changes in pain characteristics and the influence of pain on related activities and participation.

The aim of this research was to conduct randomized trials assessing the extent of cement diffusion following robot-assisted percutaneous vertebroplasty (R-PVP) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). A total of 96 OVCF patients meeting the inclusion criteria and admitted between January 2023 and November 2023 were included in the study. Among them, 48 patients were assigned to the robotic-assisted PVP group (R-PVP group) and 48 patients were assigned to the traditional PVP group (PVP group).

Backgrounds: Previous studies have found that percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) can effectively improve the local pain of the affected vertebra caused by thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) regardless of unilateral or bilateral puncture, but there are few reports on whether it is equally effective for the accompanying distant lumbosacral pain.
Objective: To analyze the clinical effect of unilateral or bilateral PVP on thoracolumbar OVCF with distant lumbosacral pain.
Methods: The clinical data of patients with single-stage OVCF treated with PVP in our hospital from March 2019 to March 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.

Osteoporosis is a common inflammation-related disease in which the release of proinflammatory cytokines promotes bone loss. Oleandrin is a monomer compound extracted from the leaves of the Nerium oleander plant, has been shown to exert an anti-inflammatory effect on a variety of inflammation-related diseases. However, its role in osteoporosis and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

The differential diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism can be considered clinically, biologically and radiologically. Clinically, primary hyperparathyroidism should be suspected in case of diffuse pain, renal lithiasis, osteoporosis, repeated fracture, cognitive or psychiatric disorder, or disturbance of consciousness. Nevertheless, the differential diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism is mainly biological, particularly in atypical forms, which must be differentiated from hypercalcemia with hypocalciuria or non- elevated PTH on the one hand, and from normo-calcemia with elevated PTH, hypophosphatemia or hypercalciuria on the other.

Background: No studies have evaluated the impact of the cement distribution as classified on the basis of the fracture bone marrow edema area (FBMEA) in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on the efficacy of percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) for acute osteoporotic vertebral fractures.
Methods: The clinical data of patients with acute, painful, single-level thoracolumbar osteoporotic fractures were retrospectively analyzed. The bone cement distribution on the postoperative radiograph was divided into 4 types according to the distribution of the FBMEA on the preoperative MRI.
