Cyclotron spin-flip excitation in a ν=2 quantum Hall system, being separated from the ground state by a slightly smaller gap than the cyclotron energy and from upper magnetoplasma excitation by the Coulomb gap [S. Dickmann and I. V. Kukushkin, Phys. Rev. B 71, 241310(R) (2005); L. V. Kulik, I. V. Kukushkin, S. Dickmann, V. E. Kirpichev, A. B. Van'kov, A. L. Parakhonsky, J. H. Smet, K. von Klitzing, and W. Wegscheider, Phys. Rev. B 72, 073304 (2005)] cannot relax in a purely electronic way except only with the emission of a shortwave acoustic phonon (k~3×10(7)/cm). As a result, relaxation in a modern wide-thickness quantum well occurs very slowly. We calculate the characteristic relaxation time to be ~1 s. Extremely slow relaxation should allow the production of a considerable density of zero-momenta cyclotron spin-flip excitations in a very small phase volume, thus forming a highly coherent ensemble-the Bose-Einstein condensate. The condensate state can be controlled by short optical pulses (~1 μs), switching it on and off.

Polar biaxial crystals with extreme anisotropy hold promise for the spatial control and the manipulation of polaritons, as they can undergo topological transitions. However, taking advantage of these unique properties for nanophotonic devices requires to find mechanisms to modulate dynamically the material response. Here, we present a study on the propagation of surface phonon polaritons (SPhPs) in a photonic architecture based on a thin layer of α-MoO deposited on a semiconducting 4H-SiC substrate, whose carrier density can be tuned through photoinduction.

Pediatric-type follicular lymphoma (PTFL) is an extremely rare B-cell lymphoma that primarily affects children and young adults, typically in individuals under 25 years old, with a median age of 15 years. Here, we report a rare case of PTFL in a 27-year-old adult male who presented with a slow-growing mass near his left ear. Initial CT scans of the neck revealed two oval-shaped, smooth, well-defined, homogeneously enhancing soft tissue density lesions in the superficial lobe of the left parotid gland.

Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) as a common clinical issue that presents significant challenges for repair. Factors such as donor site morbidity from autologous transplantation, slow recovery of long-distance nerve damage, and deficiencies in local cytokines and extracellular matrix contribute to the complexity of effective PNI treatment. It is extremely urgent to develop functional nerve guidance conduits (NGCs) as substitutes for nerve autografts.

Pampus argenteus, a species distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific, plays a significant role in the yield of aquaculture species. However, cultured P. argenteus has always been characterised by unbalanced growth synchronisation among individuals, slow growth rate, and lack of excellent germplasm resources.

Hydrogen peroxide (HO) electrosynthesis via the 2e oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is considered as a cost-effective and safe alternative to the energy-intensive anthraquinone process. However, in more practical environments, namely, the use of neutral media and air-fed cathode environments, slow ORR kinetics and insufficient oxygen supply pose significant challenges to efficient HO production at high current densities. In this work, mesoporous B-doped carbons with novel curved BC active sites, synthesized via a carbon dioxide (CO) reduction using a pore-former agent, to simultaneously achieve excellent 2e ORR activity and improved mass transfer properties are introduced.
