The incidence of diabetes mellitus is increasing rapidly and set to reach near epidemic proportions with the latest estimates suggesting that by 2030 there will be over 550 million people with this debilitating disease. Cardiovascular complications and dysfunctions are three- to eight-folds more likely in diabetic patients and are major causes of increased mortality. The exact underlying mechanisms for the development of complications of the diabetic heart are poorly understood and may involve multiple signaling pathways that are affected by hyperglycemia. This focused article reviews the recent evidence for a possible dual role of epidermal growth factor receptor signaling in diabetes-induced cardiac dysfunction.

Resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) is the main cause of mortality in lung cancer. This study aimed to investigate the roles of neuropilin 1 (NRP1) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). NRP1 expression was assessed in tumor tissues from patients with osimertinib-resistant (OR) NSCLC and osimertinib-responsive NSCLC as well as in patients with paracancerous NSCLC tissues who did not undergo radiotherapy or chemotherapy.

The standard adjuvant treatment of estrogen receptor (ER)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative early breast cancer (EBC) is endocrine therapy (ET). Despite this treatment, 20% of patients will have their disease recur. Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6) inhibitors with ET have shown overall survival (OS) benefit in ER-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer in the metastatic setting.

Theranostics of nuclear medicine refers to the combination of radionuclide imaging and internal irradiation therapy, which is currently a research hotspot and an important direction for the future development of nuclear medicine. Radiopharmaceutical is a vital component of nuclear medicine and serves as one of the fundamental pillars of molecular imaging and precision medicine. At present, a variety of radiopharmaceuticals have been developed for various targets such as fibroblast activation protein (FAP), prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2), C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4), human epidermal growth factor-2 (HER2), and integrin αvβ, and some of them have been successfully applied in clinical practice.

Pollen tubes are crucial for angiosperm plants, as they deliver sperm gametes for the essential process of double fertilization. Understanding the molecular mechanisms behind pollen tube germination and growth is critical; however, these processes remain partially elucidated in monocot cereal crops. Rapid Alkalinization Factor (RALF), a small peptide of about 5 kDa, binds to the CrRLK1L receptor and plays a role in various plant physiological processes, including reproduction and tip growth.

Hair follicle (HF) development and pigmentation are complex processes governed by various signaling pathways, such as TGF-β and FGF signaling pathways. Nestin + (neural crest like) stem cells are also expressed in HF stem cells, particularly in the bulge and dermal papilla region. However, the specific role and differentiation potential of these Nestin-positive cells within the HF remain unclear, especially regarding their contribution to melanocyte formation and hair pigmentation.
