Goal: To investigate the correlation between TSH and HbA1c in the treatment of L-thyroxine in the process of glycemic control in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism.
Patients And Methods: The sample consisted of 100 patients, mean age 51.75±3.23 years, BMI=27.97±4.52 kg/m(2), with SH (TSH>4.2 mU/L and normal serum T3 and T4). Laboratory diagnosis included the determination of free T3, free T4, thyroid antibodies, Tg, insulin, C-peptide and glucose during the OGTT, HbA1c, CRP and lipid levels. 20 patients with SH had prediabetes and 38 patients had DM. All patients were treated with low doses of L-thyroxine (25-50ug) and all were physically active.
Results: After 6 months of treatment with L-thyroxine, the patients had normal or decreased TSH (5.85±0.92 vs. 3.54±0.55 mU/L), insulin levels (114.64±24.11 vs. 96.44±17.26 pmol/L) significantly reduced HbA1c (6.74±1.01 vs. 6.26±1.12) is reduced.
Conclusion: The correlation between TSH and HbA1c was positive and significant (r=0.46). This indicates a significant effect of treatment with L-thyroxine on glycemic control in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism.

Backgrounds And Aims: CD8+T cells are crucially associated with the fight against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. CD161 has been shown to express remarkably on HCV-specific CD8+T cells. However, the accurate function of CD161+CD8+T cells in HBV immunity or pathogenesis remains undetermined.

We previously documented successful resolution of skeletal and dental disease in the infantile and late-onset murine models of hypophosphatasia (HPP), with a single injection of an adeno-associated serotype 8 vector encoding mineral-targeted TNAP (AAV8-TNAP-D10). Here, we conducted dosing studies in both HPP mouse models. A single escalating dose from 4x108 up to 4x1010 (vg/b) was intramuscularly injected into 4-day-old Alpl-/- mice (an infantile HPP model) and a single dose from 4x106 up to 4x109 (vg/b) was administered to 8-week-old AlplPrx1/Prx1 mice (a late-onset HPP model).

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a significant cause of liver disease and cancer worldwide. Understanding the genetic factors influencing HBV evolution is crucial for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. Host genetic and environmental factors particularly influence the evolution of this infection.

This study aimed to investigate the association between the interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) gene polymorphism (rs2853550) and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in a sample of the Iraqi population. The study included 100 RA patients and 100 healthy controls. Demographic characteristics, including age and gender, were collected and compared between the two groups.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is often complicated by diabetes, impacting various biochemical and immunological markers. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between irisin, apelin-13, and immunological markers IL-1α and IL-1β in diabetic patients with CKD. This cross-sectional study was conducted from January to June 2023 in a tertiary care hospital in Tikrit City, Iraq.
