Article Abstract

Background: Renalcancers account for around 3% of all cancers and the most common type of (90%) is renal cell carcinoma Five-year survival rate in renal cancer patients is 68.4%.

Aim: The aim of our study was to establish the role of F18-FDG-PET/CT in restaging patients with renal carcinoma who underwent partial or radical nephrectomy. Secondary aim of the study was to identify histological characteristics of the primary tumour that may be responsible for the metabolic behaviour of neoplastic lesions.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 68 patients with renal carcinoma in whom F18-FDG-PET/CT was performed.

Results: Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of F18-FDG PET/CT were 82%, 100%, 100%, 66.7% and 86.8%, respectively.

Conclusions: The results of our study suggest that F18-FDG PET/CT is characterised by high specificity and positive predictive value and can be useful in restaging patients affected by renal carcinoma. However, due to low negative predictive value, this method cannot be recommended for definitely ruling out suspected disease relapse.

Objective: This study investigates the relationship between the albumin-to-creatinine ratio and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in US adults using NHANES data from 2009 to 2016. This study assesses the predictive efficacy of the urinary serum albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR/SACR Ratio) against traditional biomarkers such as the serum albumin-to-creatinine ratio (SACR) and urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) for evaluating DR risk. Additionally, the study explores the potential of these biomarkers, both individually and in combination with HbA1c, for early detection and risk stratification of DR.

Background: Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase1 (IRAK1) plays a considerable role in the inflammatory signaling pathway. The current study aimed to identify any association between (rs1059703) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and vulnerability to rheumatological diseases in the pediatric and adult Egyptian population.

Patients And Methods: The current study included four patient groups: adult Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus (JSLE), and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

Clinical efficacy and safety of sodium thiosulfate in the treatment of uremic pruritus: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Arch Dermatol Res

January 2025

Blood Purification Center, Zhejiang Hospital, 1229 Gudun Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 310030, China.

Uremic pruritus (UP) is a debilitating condition frequently associated with chronic kidney disease, severely impairing patients' quality of life and contributing to increased mortality. Recent studies have suggested that intravenous sodium thiosulfate (STS) may offer therapeutic relief for pruritus in patients undergoing hemodialysis. To assess its effectiveness, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the potential of intravenous STS in managing UP.

Faculty of Sciences Semlalia, Laboratory of Pharmacology, Neurobiology, Anthropobiology and Environment, Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakech, Morocco.

Background: Arteriovenous fistula self-care behaviours in patients receiving haemodialysis are essential to maintain patency of vascular access and prevent its life-threatening complications. Assessing arteriovenous fistula self-care behaviours in patients receiving haemodialysis requires a reliable and valid tool.

Objective: The aim of this study was to adapt and translate the Portuguese scale for the assessment of self-care behaviours of arteriovenous fistula in patients receiving haemodialysis into the Moroccan dialect and evaluate its psychometric properties in the Moroccan context.

Objectives: To study the significance of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25-(OH)D] level in the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of children with immunoglobulin A vasculitis nephritis (IgAVN).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of children with IgAVN who underwent renal biopsy at Suzhou Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University and Jinling Hospital of the Medical School of Nanjing University from June 2015 to June 2020. Based on serum 25-(OH)D level, the patients were divided into a normal group and a lower group.
