During surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm, coagulation may be impaired and the use of thrombelastography (TEG) is described in six patients with a perioperative blood loss of 3L. During surgery blood products were infused but not platelets. When the patients were admitted to the intensive care unit, the TEG report demonstrated a lowered MA value indicating impaired function of platelets. The use of TEG may guide transfusion strategy.

T cells targeting a KRAS mutation can induce durable tumor regression in some patients with metastatic epithelial cancer. It is unknown whether T cells targeting mutant KRAS that are capable of killing tumor cells can be identified from peripheral blood of patients with pancreatic cancer. We developed an in vitro stimulation approach and identified HLA-A*11:01-restricted KRAS G12V-reactive CD8+ T cells and HLA-DRB1*15:01-restricted KRAS G12V-reactive CD4+ T cells from peripheral blood of 2 out of 6 HLA-A*11:01-positive patients with pancreatic cancer whose tumors expressed KRAS G12V.

Introduction: Pelvic fractures often result in life-threatening bleeding and hemodynamic instability. Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) has emerged as a promising strategy for patients with severe pelvic fractures, facilitating subsequent hemostatic interventions. Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) is a well-established procedure for managing pelvic fractures accompanied by hemorrhage.

Background: Indications for, and usage of, anticoagulant (AC) and antiplatelet (AP) agents is increasing. In this context, it is important to understand the evidence base of the effect of pre-injury AC/AP agents on patient outcomes in the context of traumatic solid organ injury (SOI) to inform management protocols.
Methods: A scoping review of the literature was undertaken with a systematic search strategy within the PubMed and Scopus databases.

Objectives: Autoantibodies mimicking alloantibodies (referred to as mimicking antibodies) are a type of specific antibody that reacts with all red blood cells, but exhibits a stronger reaction with red blood cells expressing the target antigens. This study aimed to explore immunohematologic methods for identifying mimicking antibodies, autoantibodies and alloantibodies, and to formulate safe transfusion strategies based on the results.
Methods: ABO, Rh blood types and direct antiglobulin test were determined using the tube saline method.

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a potentially lethal complication of blood transfusions, characterized by the rapid onset of pulmonary edema and hypoxemia within six hours post-transfusion. As one of the primary causes of transfusion-related mortality, TRALI carries a significant mortality rate of 6-12%. However, effective treatment strategies for TRALI are currently lacking, underscoring the urgent need for a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of its pathogenesis.
