Gram negative bacteria have lipopolysaccharides (LPS) that are critical for their survival. LPS molecules are composed of antigenic exopolysaccharide chains (O antigens). We are interested in discovering the enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of O antigens in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The common polysaccharide antigen contains α-linked D-rhamnose residues. We have now synthesized GDP-D-rhamnose by a convenient synthesis in aqueous solution, and have shown that it can be used without extensive purification as the donor substrate for D-rhamnosyltransferase (WbpZ) from the P. aeruginosa strain PAO1. The availability of this nucleotide sugar preparation allows for characterization of D-rhamnosyltransferases.

Architecting Prussian blue analogue (PBA) cathodes with optimized synergistic bimetallic reaction centers is a paradigmatic strategy for devising high-energy sodium-ion batteries (SIBs); however, these cathodes usually suffer from fast capacity fading and sluggish reaction kinetics. To alleviate the above problems, herein, a series of early transition metal (ETM)-late transition metal (LTM)-based PBA (Fe-VO, Fe-TiO, Fe-ZrO, Co-VO, and Fe-Co-VO) cathode materials have been conveniently fabricated via an "acid-assisted synthesis" strategy. As a paradigm, the FeVO-PBA (FV) delivers a superb rate capability (148.

Objective: Research on the link between inflammatory indicators and markers of bone metabolism is currently lacking, especially the interaction between Procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide (P1NP), the β-C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen (β-CTX), and the fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR). This study intends to fill that knowledge gap by investigating the possible link between inflammatory indicators and bone metabolism.

Methods: This observational study included 718 individuals diagnosed with osteoporotic fractures from Kunshan Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University between January 2017 and July 2022.

The Friedel-Crafts reaction has been extensively applied to the preparation of various porous organic polymers because of its simple operation and abundant building blocks. However, due to its poor reversibility and excessive random reactive sites, the synthesis of crystalline organic polymers/frameworks by Friedel-Crafts reaction has never been realized so far. Herein, we develop a molecular confined Friedel-Crafts reaction strategy to achieve rapid preparation (within only 30 minutes) of highly crystalline covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) with tailorable functionality for the first time.

A series of anionic poly(acrylamide--sodium acrylate)/poly(ethylene glycol), PAN/PEG, hybrids were conveniently synthesized free radical aqueous polymerization by integrating bentonite, kaolin, mica, graphene and silica, following a simple and eco-friendly crosslinking methodology. A comparative perspective was presented on how integrated nanofillers affect the physicochemical properties of hybrid gels depending on the differences in their structures. Among the five types of nanofillers, bentonite-integrated hybrid gel had the highest water absorbency, while graphene-integrated gel had the lowest.

Electronic address:

Background: Botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A) is the most potent and prevalent neurotoxin known to cause botulism, and is also widely used in medical and cosmetic applications. The detection of BoNT/A is of great significance for botulism diagnosis and drug potency determination. Currently, the mouse bioassay (MBA) has long been the gold standard method but has disadvantages of ethical concerns, long testing duration, and high costs.
