Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a challenging medical problem accounting for the development of stroke, thromboembolism, and cardiac failure. Disbalance in the autonomous nervous system (ANS) is a leading cause of AF. There is definitive evidence of the relationship between vegetative innervations, initiation and maintenance of AF, the main contributors being hyperactivity of ANS and uncontrolled release of neurotransmitters that shorten atrial refractoriness. The neurotransmitters make up the triggering mechanism of AF. The present review focuses on the role and mechanism of AF in ANS disbalance.

Background: Iliac vein compression syndrome (IVCS) impedes venous blood return from the lower extremities due to iliac vein compression, manifesting as leg swelling, varicose veins, and thrombosis. These symptoms significantly degrade quality of life. Although iliac vein stenting provides symptomatic relief, the recovery process is protracted and fraught with challenges such as in-stent restenosis and psychological distress.

The appearance of an object triggers an orienting gaze movement toward its location. The movement consists of a rapid rotation of the eyes, the saccade, which is accompanied by a head rotation if the target eccentricity exceeds the oculomotor range and by a slow eye movement if the target moves. Completing a previous report, we explain the numerous points that lead to questioning the validity of a one-to-one correspondence relation between measured physical values of gaze or head orientation and neuronal activity.
