Influenza is a highly contagious respiratory illness that imposes a significant global burden. Antiviral neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) such as oseltamivir (OC) have been proven essential, but the emergence of resistant viral strains necessitates the development of novel therapies. This study explored the potential of natural products as alternative NAIs.

Objective: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) that block the programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) pathway have shown promise with limited benefit. We and others have shown in small patient cohorts that an early proliferative CD8 T-cell response in the blood may be predictive of clinical response. However, these studies lack detailed analyses and comparisons between monotherapy and combination therapies.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease caused by dengue virus (DENV) infection, which remains a major public health concern worldwide owing to the lack of specific treatments or antiviral drugs available. This study investigated the potential repurposing of domperidone, an antiemetic and gastrokinetic agent, to control DENV infection. Domperidone was identified by pharmacophore-based virtual screening as a small molecule that can bind to both the viral envelope (E) and the nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) of DENV.

Maternal immune activation (MIA) induces long-term cognitive impairments by modulating the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic system. Experimental evidence suggests that maternal immune challenge with bacterial active ingredient lipopolysaccharide (LPS) reduces GABAergic tone in the offspring's prefrontal cortex. In this study, we aimed to assess whether interleukin-6 (IL-6) contributes to this reduced GABAergic system in the prefrontal cortex of juvenile offspring.
