We carefully tailored a porous silicon (pSi) surface by oxidation with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to determine the time-dependent changes in nanocrystallite surface chemistries (e.g., Si-O-Si, SiH(x) [x = 1, 2], OySiH [y = 2, 3], and SiOH/H2O) and their influence on the pSi photoluminescence (PL). The relationship between infrared band amplitudes and PL intensity were evaluated under H2O2 and O3 (previously studied) oxidation. The pSi surface composition under O3 and H2O2 oxidation conditions tended to, save the O(y)SiH (y = 2, 3) species, approach similar values at the longest oxidation times studied, but they took very different paths in reaching these end points. Furthermore, the pSi surface compositions that exhibit maximum/minimum PL under each oxidant are very different.

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are the largest family of cell surface receptors in humans. The binding and dissociation of ligands tunes the inherent conformational flexibility of these important drug targets towards distinct functional states. Here we show how to trigger and resolve protein-ligand interaction dynamics within the human adenosine A receptor.

State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Environmental Risk Assessment and Control on Chemical Process, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai 200237, China.

As pressure on water resources intensifies and stringent regulations for groundwater and surface water are enacted, wastewater recycling has emerged as a key research objective for many enterprises. In this study, based on the actual wastewater discharged from Eternal Electronic (Suzhou, China) Co., Ltd.

Many-body interactions in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are fundamental for emergent quantum physics. Unlike their solution counterpart, magnetization at surfaces in low-dimensional analogues is strongly influenced by magnetic anisotropy (MA) induced by the substrate and still not well understood. Here, on-surface coordination chemistry is used to synthesize on Ag(111) and superconducting Pb(111) an iron-based spin chain by using pyrene-4,5,9,10-tetraone (PTO) precursors as ligands.

Superinsulating nanofibrillar cellulose foams have the potential to replace fossil-based insulating materials, but the development is hampered by the moisture-dependent heat transport and the lack of direct measurements of phonon transport. Here, inelastic neutron scattering is used together with wide angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) and small angle neutron scattering to relate the moisture-dependent structural modifications to the vibrational dynamics and phonon transport and scattering of cellulose nanofibrils from wood and tunicate, and wood cellulose nanocrystals (W-CNC). The moisture interacted primarily with the disordered regions in nanocellulose, and WAXS showed that the crystallinity and coherence length increased as the moisture content increased.

The Fucheng-1 (FC-1) satellite has successfully transitioned from its initial operational phase and is now undergoing a detailed performance assessment for time-series deformation monitoring. This study evaluates the surface deformation monitoring capabilities of the newly launched FC-1 satellite using the interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) technique, particularly in urban applications. By analyzing the observation data from 20 FC-1 scenes and 20 Sentinel-1 scenes, deformation velocity maps of a university in Mianyang city were obtained using persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI) and distributed scatterer interferometry (DSI) techniques.
