We have developed an expeditious procedure to yield large amounts of orthogonally protected Gal-β1,3/4-GlcNAc, which allowed for the systematic introduction of a sulfate group onto the C3/C6 positions of Gal and/or the C6 position of GlcNAc. In particular, the disaccharide precursors were prepared in five or six steps and high overall yield from para-tolyl-6-O-tert-butyldiphenylsilyl-1-thio-β-D-galactopyranoside. After deprotection and sulfation steps, the final products were characterized by using several NMR methods to unambiguously confirm the location of each introduced sulfate group and they were examined for their binding specificity of human galectin-1 and galectin-8.

Introduction: Bone turnover markers reflected the bone remodeling process and bone health in clinical studies. Studies on variation of bone remodeling markers in different stage CKD were scant, and this study investigated the role of bedside intradialytic cycling in altering concentrations of bone-remodeling markers in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Materials And Methods: Participants were segmented into four groups: a group with eGFR >60 ml/min/1.

Purpose: Ninjury-induced protein 1 (Ninj1) is associated with inflammation and tumor progression and shows increased expression in various cancers. This study aimed to investigate the role of Ninj1 in colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CRC) by focusing on its interaction with 17β-estradiol (E2).

Materials And Methods: Using an azoxymethane (AOM)/dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) mouse model of colitis-associated CRC, wild-type (WT) and Ninj1 knockout (KO) male mice were treated with or without E2.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) emerges as a singular subclass of heart failure, bereft of specific therapeutic options. Magnesium, an indispensable trace element, is essential to the preservation of cardiac integrity. However, the association between magnesium supplementation and mortality in HFpEF patients remains unclear.

Background: Epidural steroid injections are frequently used to treat chronic radicular pain of a discogenic origin; however, their efficacy remains limited. Magnesium sulfate and dexmedetomidine are emerging adjuvants with the potential to enhance the effectiveness and prolong the therapeutic duration of steroid injections.

Methods: In this randomized, double-blind study, 90 patients with unilateral lower limb radiculopathy due to lumbar disc prolapse who did not respond to conservative treatment for 12 weeks were assigned to three groups.
