The kinetochore is the macromolecular protein complex that mediates chromosome segregation. The Dsn1 component is crucial for kinetochore assembly and is phosphorylated by the Aurora B kinase. We found that Aurora B phosphorylation of Dsn1 promotes the interaction between outer and inner kinetochore proteins in budding yeast.

Background: Aurora kinase A (AurkA) plays a vital role in mitosis and is therefore critical in tumors development and progression. There are a few studies on AurkA expression in salivary gland tumors. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the expression pattern of AurkA in the most common benign and malignant salivary gland tumors by immunohistochemistry.

There is an urgent need to develop new targeted treatment agents for small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Tinengotinib (TT-00420) is a novel, multi-targeted, and spectrally selective small-molecule kinase inhibitor that has shown significant inhibitory effects on certain solid tumors in preclinical studies. However, its role and mechanism of action in SCLC remain unclear.

The zeta inhibitory peptide (ZIP) interferes with memory maintenance and long-term potentiation (LTP) when administered to mice. However, mice lacking its putative target, protein kinase PKMζ, exhibit normal learning and memory as well as LTP, making the mechanism of ZIP unclear. Here we show that ZIP disrupts LTP by removing surface AMPA receptors through its cationic charge alone.

During chromosome segregation, the spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) detects errors in kinetochore-microtubule attachments. Timely activation and maintenance of the SAC until defects are corrected is essential for genome stability. Here, we show that shugoshin (Sgo1), a conserved tension-sensing protein, ensures the maintenance of SAC signals in response to unattached kinetochores during mitosis in a basidiomycete budding yeast Cryptococcus neoformans.

Background: Lupus nephritis (LN) is one of the most common and severe complications of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Multitarget therapy (MT) achieves a 20% higher complete remission (CR) rate compared to conventional therapy in LN management. Intrigued by its excellent clinical efficacy, we aimed to develop a single-agent therapy with comparable efficacy to MT, offering a simplified treatment regimen.
