Published: May 2013

Crystal dehydration is a post-crystallization technique that can potentially improve the diffraction of macromolecular crystals. There are currently several ways of undertaking this process; however, dehydration experiments are often limited in their throughput and require prior manipulation of the samples. In the present study, a novel method is proposed that uses in situ plate screening to assess the effect of dehydration by combining the throughput of 96-well crystallization plates with direct X-ray feedback on crystal diffraction quality.

In situ formation of LiN interlayer enhancing interfacial stability of solid-state lithium batteries.

J Colloid Interface Sci

The uneven deposition of lithium ions has raised safety concerns related to the growth of lithium dendrites on the surface of lithium metal batteries. In this work, an in situ formed LiN interlayer is introduced to regulate the deposition of lithium ions on the lithium metal surface effectively. The LiN interlayer is formed on the lithium metal surface by the reaction of nitrogen gas (N) released from the reaction layer at a specific temperature.

The evolutionary origin of the vertebrate brain remains a major subject of debate, as its development from a dorsal tubular neuroepithelium is unique to chordates. To shed light on the evolutionary emergence of the vertebrate brain, we compared anterior neuroectoderm development across deuterostome species, using available single-cell datasets from sea urchin, amphioxus, and zebrafish embryos. We identified a conserved gene co-expression module, comparable to the anterior gene regulatory network (aGRN) controlling apical organ development in ambulacrarians, and spatially mapped it by multiplexed in situ hybridization to the developing retina and hypothalamus of chordates.

Highly stable lithium metal anodes enabled by bimetallic metal-organic frameworks derivatives-modified carbon cloth.

J Colloid Interface Sci

College of Energy, Soochow Institute for Energy and Materials Innovations, Soochow University, Suzhou 215006 China. Electronic address:

Lithium (Li) metal anodes hold great promise for next-generation secondary batteries with high energy density. Unfortunately, several problems such as Li dendrite growth, low Coulombic efficiency and poor cycle life hinder the commercialization of Li metal anodes. Herein, we design a highly lithiophilic carbon cloth host modified with Sn-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) (ZnSn-CC) directly derived from a bimetallic ZnSn metal-organic framework (ZnSn-MOF), which boosts uniform Li plating/stripping during charge-discharge and effectively protects the Li metal anode.

Nano-Metal-Organic Frameworks Isolated in Mesoporous Structures.

Adv Mater

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Testing Center, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou, 225009, P. R. China.

As an alternative to bulk counterparts, metal-organic framework (MOF) nanoparticles isolated within conductive mesoporous carbon matrices are of increasing interest for electrochemical applications. Although promising, a "clean" carbon surface is generally associated with poor compatibility and weak interactions with metal/ligand precursors, which leads to the growth of MOFs with inhomogeneous particle sizes on outer pore walls. Here, a general methodology for in situ synthesis of eight nanoMOF composites within mesochannels with high dispersity and stability are reported.

Electric aircraft such as electric aircraft and electric vehicles play a key role in the future electric aviation industry, but they put forward huge requirements for battery energy density. However, the current high-energy-density lithium battery technology still needs to be broken through. Herein, through the molecular structure design of the polymer electrolyte, a strategy of a fast migration channel and wide electrochemical window is proposed to fabricate high-voltage-resistant solid polymer electrolyte (HVPE) via in situ polymerization.
