Phase composition of epitaxial/textured LiNbO3 films on sapphire substrates, grown by pulsed laser deposition, atmospheric pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition and pulsed injection metal organic chemical vapor deposition was studied by conventional x-ray diffraction techniques. Raman spectroscopy, being highly sensitive to the symmetry of materials, was used as a countercheck in the compositional analysis. The wavenumbers of Raman modes of LiNb3O8 and Li3NbO4 phases were identified from Raman spectra of synthesized powders. Asymmetry of profiles of x-ray diffraction reflections of LiNbO3 films was studied. This asymmetry may have different origins which consequently may result in misleading conclusions about phase composition of textured LiNbO3 films.
We have developed a terahertz (THz) nonlinear spectrometer at low temperatures (1.5-300 K) and under high magnetic fields (up to 10 T) by combining the laser-driven table-top intense THz source with a superconducting magnet. The strong-field THz pump pulse was generated from LiNbO3 crystal using the tilted-pulse-front technique and tightly focused into the center of the magnet by an off-axis parabolic mirror and a THz lens.
The first-order antisymmetric (A1) mode lamb wave resonator (LWR) based on Z-cut LiNbO thin films has attracted significant attention and is widely believed to be a candidate for next-generation reconfigurable filters with high frequency and large bandwidth (BW). However, it is challenging for traditional interdigitated electrodes (IDTs) based LWR filters to meet the requirement of a clean frequency spectrum response and enough out-of-band (OoB) rejection. To solve the problem, we propose LWRs with checker-shaped IDTs for the design of filters that meet the Wi-Fi 6E standard.
Excitation of multiple acoustic wave modes on a single chip is beneficial to implement diversified acoustofluidic functions. Conventional acoustic wave devices made of bulk LiNbO substrates generally generate few acoustic wave modes once the crystal-cut and electrode pattern are defined, limiting the realization of acoustofluidic diversity. In this paper, we demonstrated diversity of acoustofluidic behaviors using multiple modes of acoustic waves generated on piezoelectric-thin-film-coated aluminum sheets.
Surface acoustic wave (SAW) can carry phononic angular momentum, showing great potential as an energy-efficient way to control magnetism. Still, out-of-plane phononic angular momentum in SAW and its interaction with magnetism remain elusive. Here, we studied the SAW-induced magnetoacoustic waves and spin pumping in Ni-based films on LiNbO with selected SAW propagation direction.
