An air and moisture stable ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethyl sulfate (EMIMES) was used as an electrolyte for electropolymerization of L-cysteine followed by electrodeposition of nickel nanoparticles (NiNP) on paraffin wax impregnated graphite electrode (PIGE). The electrodeposited NiNP modified electrode showed good redox activity and stability in 0.1M KOH solution. The modified electrode has been characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The modified electrode was examined for electrocatalytic oxidation of some compounds of biological and clinical importance such as vitamin B6, L-tyrosine, L-tryptophan, vanillin, glucose and hydrogen peroxide by cyclic voltammetry to demonstrate the electrocatalytic activity of the electrodeposited NiNPs.

In the present work, we report the synthesis and evaluation of a graphite-supported bismuth film working electrode (BiFE) in the simultaneous quantification of Hg(II) and Pb(II) at ppb levels. The BiFE was synthesized in-situ by electrodeposition in 1 M HNO as the supporting electrolyte at -0.5 V potential.

Although microenvironments surrounding single-atom catalysts (SACs) have been widely demonstrated to have a remarkable effect on their catalytic performances, it remains unclear whether the local structure beyond the secondary coordination shells works as well or not. Herein, we employed a series of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with well-defined and tunable second-beyond coordination spheres as model SAC electrocatalysts to discuss the influence of long-distance structure on the ammonia synthesis from nitrate, which were synthesized and denoted as Cu-NDI-X (X = NMe, H, F). It is first experimentally confirmed that the remote substitution of function groups beyond the secondary coordination sphere can remarkably affect the activity of ammonia synthesis.

Inducing magnetic ordering in a non-ferrous layered double hydroxides (LDHs) instigates higher spin polarization, which leads to enhanced efficiency during oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In nano-sized magnetic materials, the concept of elongated grains drives domain alignment under the application of an external magnetic field. Hence, near the solid electrode interface, modified magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) positively impacts the electrocatalytic ability of non-ferrous nanocatalysts.

Herein, we report the biosynthesis of pure NiO and NiO nanoparticles doped with Silver (Ag@NiO NPs) 2, 4, 6, and 8 mol% from aloe vera extract by solution combustion method at 400 °C and calcined at 500 °C for 3 h. By utilizing silver-doped NiO nanoparticles synthesized with Aloe Vera latex, which not only enhances the material's properties but also promotes environmentally friendly fabrication methods. The morphological, structural elemental compositions were analysed through SEM, HRTEM, SAED, XRD and EDAX.

Improper management of wood impregnation chemicals and treated wood has led to soil contamination at many wood treatment sites, particularly with toxic substances like creosote oil and chromated copper arsenate (CCA). The simultaneous presence of these pollutants complicates the choice of soil remediation technologies, especially if they are to be applied in situ. In this laboratory study, we attempted to immobilise arsenic (As) and simultaneously degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) (constituents of creosote oil) by applying a modified electrochemical oxidation method.
