Rose Bengal antigen and smooth lipopolysaccharide (s-LPS) were produced from a field strain of ("homologous" antigens) and from the reference strain S99 ("heterologous" antigens); they are currently used for the diagnosis of brucellosis in cattle, water buffaloes, sheep, goats, and pigs, as recommended in the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). "Homologous" and "heterologous" antigens were used in a rapid serum agglutination test (Rose Bengal test, RBT) and a competitive ELISA assay (c-ELISA) to test a panel of sera, blood, and other body fluids (cerebrospinal fluid, pericardial fluid, tracheal fluid, and aqueous humor) collected from 71 individuals belonging to five cetacean species (; ; ; ; and ), which were found stranded on the Italian coastline. Six animals were positive for spp.

Background/objectives: Citrulline, an amino acid produced by small bowel enterocytes, has been proposed as a potential marker of intestinal absorptive capacity. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether measuring citrulline levels could be useful for celiac disease (CD) patients, both at the time of diagnosis and during follow-up.
Methods: A multicenter prospective study was conducted.

Intranasal vaccination enhances protection against respiratory viruses by providing stimuli to the immune system at the primary site of infection, promoting a balanced and effective response. Influenza vectors with truncated NS1 are a promising vaccine approach that ensures a pronounced local CD8+ T-cellular immune response. Here, we describe the protective and immunomodulating properties of an influenza vector FluVec-N carrying the C-terminal fragment of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleoprotein within a truncated NS1 open reading frame.

Integrated serological surveillance (serosurveillance) involves testing for antibodies to multiple pathogens (or species) simultaneously and can be achieved using multiplex bead assays (MBAs). This systematic review aims to describe pathogens studied using MBAs, the operational implementation of MBAs, and how the data generated were synthesised. In November and December 2023, four databases were searched for studies utilising MBAs for the integrated serosurveillance of infectious diseases.

Background Objectives: Co-infection of dengue virus and acute hepatitis A virus in paediatric population is a major health concern in endemic countries. This cross sectional retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of hepatitis A virus among the clinically dengue suspected paediatric cases presented at our tertiary care centre during the two-year period (2022-2023).
Methods: A total of 747 dengue suspected paediatric clinical specimens were included in this study.
