The autophagy response induced by HSV-1 infection is antagonized by the Beclin-binding domain (BBD). The purpose of this study was to determine if lack of the BBD affects viral spread and immune response in the eyes and brain. Our results showed that lack of the BBD increases autophagy response and activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, which in turn induces a more rapid innate immune response mediated by macrophage/microglia and NK cells in the injected eye, limiting virus replication and retinal damage. We conclude that autophagy plays a role in controlling HSV-1 infection by more rapid induction of the innate immune response.

Background: In several studies of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), the regulation of tumorigenesis and therapeutic sensitivity by pyroptosis has been observed. However, a systematic analysis of gasdermin family members (GSDMs, including GSDMA/B/C/D/E and PJVK), which are deterministic executors of pyroptosis, has not yet been reported in HNSC.
Methods: We performed comprehensive analyses of the expression profile, prognostic value, regulatory network, and immune infiltration modulation of GSDMs in HNSC on the basis of a computational approach and bioinformatic analysis of publicly available datasets.
Background And Aim: The high rate of tumor growth results in an increased need for amino acids. As solute carriers (SLC) transporters are capable of transporting different amino acids, cancer may develop as a result of these transporters' over-expression due to their complex formation with other biological molecules. Therefore, this review investigated the role of SLC transporters in the progression of cancer.

Background/purpose: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is notorious for its low survival rates, due to the advanced stage at which it is commonly diagnosed. To enhance early detection and improve prognostic assessments, our study harnesses the power of machine learning (ML) to dissect and interpret complex patterns within mRNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) data and clinical-histopathological features.
Materials And Methods: 206 retrospective Vietnamese OSCC formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tumor samples, of which 101 were subjected to RNA-seq for classification based on gene expression.

Whey proteins, the most abundant proteins in human milk (HM), play a vital role in the growth and development of infants. This review first elaborates on the main components of HM whey proteins, including various proteins with specific functions, and details the functions of these proteins in terms of infant nutrition, immunity, as well as growth and development. Secondly, it analyzes factors that affect HM whey proteins, such as maternal differences, dietary habits, and geographical differences.

Objective: Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a complex autoimmune disease, and its pathogenesis remains poorly understood. Building upon previous research on the immunological and inflammatory aspects of JDM, this study aims to investigate the role of pyroptosis in the pathogenesis of JDM using a comprehensive bioinformatics approach.
Methods: Two microarray datasets (GSE3307 and GSE11971) were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, and a list of 62 pyroptosis-related genes was compiled.
